New homes for Hallmark in 2 countries

28 September 2004 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Hallmark Entertainment has switched key broadcast outlets in two major European territories, signing sales deals with Germany's ProSiebenSat.1 and Spain's Antena 3 for Hallmark's 2004-05 slate of upcoming miniseries, Hallmark distribution president Joel Denton said Monday. Hallmark previously had long-term distribution agreements with RTL Television in Germany and Telecinco in Spain. The deals will give ProSiebenSat.1 and Antena 3 exclusive free-TV rights in their respective territories for upcoming Hallmark event miniseries of the 2004-05 season, including Hercules, King Tut, The Poseidon Adventure and Supernova. They mark a new, more aggressive, acquisition policy on the part of the Spanish and German stations after management shuffles that have seen Haim Saban take majority control at ProSiebenSat.1 and Maurizio Carlotti take over the helm as CEO of Antena 3. »
