James Corden on How He Overcame Bullies as a Heavy Child: 'If You're Big at School, You're Going to Be a Target'

25 August 2016 11:25 AM, PDT | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

James Corden makes millions of people laugh each night on The Late Late Show. But growing up overweight, Corden was all too aware of what it felt to be laughed at. "If you're big at school … you're going to be a target," he explains of his childhood bullies in the cover story for the new issue of Rolling Stone. Lucky for Corden, he quickly adapted a technique that would assure the haters wouldn't come his way: humor and confidence. "If you go to school and you're me, you go, 'Right, I'm just going to make myself a bigger target. My confidence, »

How James Corden Conquered Late Night One 'Carpool Karaoke' at a Time

24 August 2016 7:00 AM, PDT | Rollingstone.com | See recent Rolling Stone news »

Matt Damon is running toward the rooftop railing of an L.A. building, and people are afraid he's gonna die. James Corden is not one of them. Damon is reprising Jason Bourne, walking fast and looking over the right shoulder of his scuffed brown leather jacket. He then runs into a plump Brit who's dressed exactly the same. Damon smiles. It's Corden, the host of CBS' The Late Late Show, and the proud son of Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire, in England's unfashionable Home Counties. It's an hour before the taping of Corden's show, »

James Corden on Emmy Surprise, ‘Carpool Karaoke’ and Those Colbert Rumors

15 August 2016 11:00 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

James Corden burst onto the TV scene with his take on the late-night skein in March 2015. His “Late Late Show” nabbed four Emmy nods — included a coveted Variety Talk Series nod — and captured the zeitgeist with his buzzy star-studded “Carpool Karaoke” videos.

Congratulations on the Emmy nominations.

Thanks very much. We’re thrilled. It’s like you’re always hopeful, but you know, history speaks for itself so many times with a show that airs at 12:37 on CBS. You hope that we would be able to find a voice and a lane which people would see the show that we’re doing. To have one (nomination) would have been amazing. Four is mind-blowing to us.

You’ve come a long way since the show launched just over a year ago.

Man, it’s crazy. We just knew that we had to hit the ground running. There was just no room, because »

Before James Corden was hosting the Late Late Show and Dominic Cooper was kicking ass and taking names in Preacher, the two were just a pair of struggling actors sharing a flat in London. From holding hands on the red carpet to nearly tackling each other with excitement, these are the best moments the A-List BFFs have shared over the years. »

Late Late Show host James Corden opened the Tonys with a Hamilton-inspired number. This is his debut year as host of the awards ceremony.

With help from part of the cast of Hamilton, Corden spoofed the opening number of the show, "Alexander Hamilton." Nominated cast members Leslie Odom Jr. and Daveed Diggs made fun of Corden's late-night show and role as the "chubby" Baker in Into the Woods.

From there, Corden spoke a little bit about the phenomenon of Hamilton and how the Tony Awards are "the Oscars but with »

Cursed Child Cast Photos!

Pottermore.com has released the first images from the Harry Potter update Harry Potter And The Cursed Child with Jamie Parker as Harry, Poppy Miller as his wife, Ginny, and Sam Clemmett as Harry’s troubled son Albus.

The previews of both Parts 1 and 2 of the West End play written by Jack Thorne are coming next week, but these portraits give a right peek at the characters, and their resemblance to the actors who played them in the Harry Potter film series is uncanny. J.K. Rowling herself said about Parker: “He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.” High praise from the person who knows both Harry and his universe better than anyone!

Parker is known for his roles in The History Boys and Valkyrie and was recently seen in several episodes of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Miller has »

DVD Obscura: The New Indie and International Movies You Need to Watch

19 May 2016 10:00 PM, PDT | Movies.com | See recent Movies.com news »

New Indie: The Lady in the Van (Sony Home Entertainment) had all the markings of an awards season contender: It was the latest film from BAFTA and Tony Award–winning director Nicholas Hytner (The History Boys); it was based on beloved British writer Alan Bennett’s memoir; and, most importantly, it starred Dame Maggie Smith as the titular Lady. That so few people saw the movie during its theatrical release and that it earned so little award recognition is just one of those film-history mysteries. All the same, this story of an elderly woman who parks her van in Bennett’s driveway, and then lives there for the next 15 years, is a very audience-friendly bit of feel-good-ism (and name an Academy voter whose head can’t be turned by that sort of thing), one...

The Lady in the Van Blu-ray Review

4 March 2016 5:15 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Director: Nicholas Hytner

Screenplay by: Alan Bennett

Starring: Maggie SmithAlex Jennings

Directed by Nicholas Hytner, The Lady in the Van is an excellent portrait of the very human, and quite British, relationship between Alan Bennett and a seemingly homeless lady named Mary Shepherd who ended up living in her van, outside his house in Camden, for 15 years. What makes this all the more remarkable, where truth can be just as strange as fiction, is it tells the true story of their unusual friendship. As the years pass, Bennett gradually learns more about her and that she isn’t only an eccentric homeless woman but a lady with extensive real-life history that’s rich in experiences.

Alex Jennings plays Alan Bennett, having previously taken on the role in the play in 1999. He physically, and literally, portrays the two sides of Bennett living in his house as one half acts out his day-to-day life, »
