Returning shows (so far): 20/20, America's Funniest Home Videos, Castle, Dancing with the Stars, Grey's Anatomy, Last Man Standing, The Middle, Modern Family, Nashville, The Neighbors, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, Scandal, and Shark Tank.

There's lots of data that ABC execs looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. Here's an updated listing of all of their current primetime shows. »

Film Review: ‘Make Your Move’

15 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

“East-Meets-West Side Story” might have made a clunkier but more interesting title for “Make Your Move,” a slick, disposable soap opera about a poor white boy and a spirited Korean girl who fall in love despite hailing from rival corners of Brooklyn’s club scene. Wringing yet another variation on the boy-hoofer-meets-girl-hoofer formula that fueled his screenplays for “Save the Last Dance” and “Step Up,” writer-director Duane Adler weaves an overly tangled web of resentment, betrayal and thuggish violence around his attractive two leads (“Dancing With the Stars” champ Derek Hough and pop star BoA), both of whom display almost enough fancy footwork to overcome the cliches they’ve been saddled with. Theatrical biz will be limited, but this amiable time-filler could have ancillary legs, particularly among the Asian-American audiences being targeted.

A genial, tap-dancing ex-con from New Orleans, Donny (Hough) decides to skip out on his parole and hightail it to Brooklyn, »

'Dancing with the Stars' cliffhanger: Uh-oh, is Meryl Davis at risk of elimination?

17 April 2014 8:26 AM, PDT | Gold Derby | See recent Gold Derby news »

It seems unthinkable that Meryl Davis could be sent home from "Dancing With the Stars" after weeks of dominant performances. Our users aren't worried, still giving her best odds to win the season, but she may be more vulnerable than we realize. -Break- 'DWTS' recap: Meryl Davis dethroned, Cody Simpson sent home In week two she tied Charlie White and James Maslow as the judges' highest scoring dance, and in weeks three and four she held that distinction all by herself with near perfect scores. That included the partner switch, where Davis was one of the few competitors not to lose any ground. But on Monday's "Disney Night" several contestants earned personal-best scores, so Davis, who earned straight 9s from the judges, was only good enough for fifth place, tied with NeNe Leakes. Ahead of her were Maslow, Danica McKellar, Amy Purdy, and White. 'DWTS' Poll: Was James Maslow really perfect on. »

"I'm absolutely cancer-free!" Harper told Closer Weekly. "My last scans have been positive, and my doctors are very happy. [The oncologist] looked at the scans and said, 'Oh my God, Valerie, this is very encouraging!' "

"My doctor doesn't use that term [remission],” said Harper. “He likes to say, 'I give you a treatment, and it's either responsive or non-responsive — and you are having a phenomenal response.'"

As part of her treatment regiment, Harper takes several pills in a “pulse does” – at one sitting, once per week.

‘Dancing’ Gains on ‘The Voice’ Monday; CBS’ ‘Friends With Better Lives’ Sluggish

15 April 2014 9:28 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

NBC’s “The Voice” was again the top-rated Monday series in key demos last night, though it hit a low on the night for this cycle and ABC’s competing “Dancing With the Stars” closed the gap. CBS, meanwhile, began its post-”How I Met Your Mother” life with a nothing-special timeslot premiere for new half-hour “Friends With Better Lives.”

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, “The Voice” averaged a 3.3 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 and 11.7 million viewers overall from 8 to 10 p.m., down 6% (0.2) from last week’s national average and the lowest Monday score for this edition; still, it comfortably won all four of its half-hours in 18-49 and 25-54. A repeat of “The Blacklist” did pretty well closing out the night for NBC (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall) — delivering a larger young-adult audience than either of Fox’s firstrun dramas on the night and achieving the top »
