It’s the start of a new month, and as ever in film and Blu-ray circles, nothing gets the fans salivating more than the upcoming release slate from the awesome folks over at Arrow Films. Its line-up of releases for August has been unveiled (both UK and Us), and you can view all the information below, including the stand-out title, David Cronenberg’s Videodrome, which is getting a very special, limited edition release in a collector’s package.

Videodrome: Limited Edition

Combining the bio-horror elements of his earlier films whilst anticipating the technological themes of his later work, Videodrome exemplifies Cronenberg’s extraordinary talent for making both visceral and cerebral cinema. Max Renn (James Woods) is looking for fresh new content for his TV channel when he happens across some illegal S&M-style broadcasts called ‘Videodrome’. Towles starred in the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead and Zombie's first film House of 1000 Corpses in 2003.

Tom Towles, Actor in Horror Movies, Dies at 65

6 April 2015 1:17 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Tom Towles, a character actor who appeared in horror movies and had a recurring role on “NYPD Blue,” died April 2 after suffering a stroke. He was 65.

Though he did have a small role in 1975’s “Dog Day Afternoon,” Towles was more associated with the films of Rob Zombie, appearing in “House of 1000 Corpses,” “The Devil’s Rejects,” Zombie’s 2007 reboot of “Halloween” and the fake Zombie-shot trailer for “Werewolf Women of the S.S.” included in the 2007 film “Grindhouse.”

Towles memorably played the repugnant Otis in 1986 indie “Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer” and the obnoxious Harry Cooper in the 1990 remake of “Night of the Living Dead.”

Zombie remembered Towles on his Instagram page Monday, saying “He was a nice funny guy.”

Non-horror credits include “Mad Dog and Glory” (1993), “The Rock” (1996), “Doctor Dolittle” (1998) and 2006’s “Miami Vice.” His most recent film was 2008 horror comedy “Blood on the Highway.”

Danny Trejo Says 'Machete Kills Again...in Space' Will Actually Happen

6 April 2015 7:53 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

It looks like Machete is going to be the joke that just won't die. The first feature film debuted in 2010 after a faux trailer that came with Robert Rodriguez's half of the Grindhouse double feature sparked some interest among exploitation fans. And then the end of that first parody, there was a tease for a sequel, which inexplicably ended up in front of cameras and on the big screen in 2013 in the form of Machete Kills. It bombed at the box office hard, and while Mel Gibson was a fun addition to the cast, it started to feel like the joke had run its course. But hold on, because the teaser at the end of Machete Kills may become a movie too. If you've taken the time to check out Machete Kills, then you know at the end there was a tease for the next installment, Machete Kills Again. »

Machete Kills Again… In Space Filming This Year, Says Danny Trejo

5 April 2015 4:28 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Evidently undeterred after Machete Kills got utterly slaughtered at the box office in the fall of 2013, taking in a measly $15 million at the box office and never recouping its slight $20 million budget, actor Danny Trejo confirmed recently that he and director Robert Rodriguez are still proceeding with their previously planned third installment, titled Machete Kills Again… In Space.

Speaking with Halloween Daily News at the Mad Monster Party in Charlotte, North Carolina, last weekend, Trejo seemed gung-ho about the prospect of again playing the Mexican ex-federale in a third film, reporting that plans have been set in motion to make the exploitation flick later this year:

“Robert [Rodriguez] and I are going to start to do ‘Machete Kills in Space,’ so that’s going to be awesome. Absolutely. We’re going to be working on it this year.”

Danny Trejo Confirms Machete 3 is Happening This Year

5 April 2015 3:16 AM, PDT | WorstPreviews.com | See recent Worst Previews news »

After putting together a fake "Machete" trailer for "Grindhouse," director Robert Rodriguez decided to turn "Machete" into a feature film. It was released in 2010 with plans of completing an entire trilogy. But the movie grossed only $44 million worldwide. Surprisingly, a sequel, called "Machete Kills," was greenlit. It was released in 2013 and ended up with a disappointing $15 million. But despite terrible results, "Machete" star Danny Trejo just revealed that there are already plans for the third film to go into production. "Robert and I are going to start to do 'Machete Kills in Space,' so that's going to be awesome," he confirmed. "We're going to be working on it this year." »

Always planned as a trilogy, the Machete sequel Machete Kills bombed at the box office earning just $8 million in wide release, leaving the franchise's fate in question. But according to Danny Trejo there's no doubt that Machete Kills Again... in Space! will eventually happen. In fact, he claims it is set to shoot later this year.

Danny Trejo was hanging out at the Mad Monster convention in Charlotte, Nc this past weekend, where Halloween Daily News caught up with the cult icon and El Sereno legend. According to Danny Trejo, who can next be seen in the sequel Bad Asses on the Bayou, he has already started working on this second sequel to the 2010 hit with Robert Rodriguez. He says:

Watch: 90-Minute 'The Director's Chair' Episode With Robert Rodriguez And Quentin Tarantino

The long and fruitful friendship between Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez probably began with 1994’s “Four Rooms” (remember that one?). That film, an anthology comedy set in a Los Angeles hotel on New Year’s eve, could be described in a word as “unfortunate,” but it cemented what would become a strong working alliance between two very talented and different artists (for the record, Tarantino’s segment, “The Man from Hollywood” can at least be said to be an interesting failure while Rodriguez’s “The Misbehavers” just isn’t very good). The two young maverick movie geeks linked up next on Rodriguez’s hellacious vampire western “From Dusk ‘Till Dawn,” with Tarantino writing the script and playing the creepy second banana to then rising star leading man George Clooney (the reviews at the time weren’t kind to him, nor the movie itself). Video Game Review – Zombie Army Trilogy

5 March 2015 12:46 PM, PST | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Kris Wall reviews Zombie Army Trilogy…

Following last year’s bio-mechanical monstrosities in the excellent Wolfenstein : The New Order, the Nazi’s are back causing trouble again, this time from beyond the grave in Rebellion’s Zombie Army Trilogy. Starting out life as a Dlc spin off from the Sniper Elite series on the PC, Rebellion have taken two enemies that gamers love to shoot, Nazis and zombies, and brought them together in a riotously fun multi-player dance of death and destruction all wrapped up in a gloriously trashy B-movie grindhouse package that does one thing and does it well. If you love killing zombies and are happy to do that for hours then Zombie Army Trilogy delivers !

There’s a story of sorts here in Rebellion’s take on alternate history. World War II has raged on and Nazi Germany is finally on its knees awaiting the deathblow. »
