Martita Hunt Is Lady Bastable!
7 June 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I fondly remember this wry and fetching TV series that was shown on PBS back in the 60s. Martita Hunt (Anastasia, The Unsinkable Molly Brown) was a glorious Lady Bastable and Fenella Fielding (the sister of Marty Feldman and best known in the US for Lock Up Your Daughters) was in the show although she is not mentioned in the cast list here. Moyra Fraser is listed as Laura and is best known for Ken Russell's The Boy Friend.

Based on the wickedly funny short stories of H.H. Munro, the British writer who wrote under the name of Saki and was killed in WW I.

Among his best short stories are "The Stampeding of Lady Bastable," "Tobermory," and "Esme."
