It's listed as a comedy: I only laughed once, and that's 52 minutes in. That was the only time. None of the dialogue, at all, is really that humorous. The old people in the beginning are played by young people with really bad makeup to make them appear to be old. They have silver beards that look painted on; especially the eyebrows. There was a restaurant scene 20 or so minutes in where this guy daydreams about having an "experience" with the waitress. Basically, it seems, most to all the women in this are either sex objects or projected as gold diggers.
By the time you get to the Comedy Club you'd think at least there, or at least for me, there'd be some funny quips, or something but there wasn't. The audience is laughing but I don't understand why. There was one scene 30 or so minutes in that made me smirk but not laugh where one character was pretending to be gay to mess with a friend but it was short, and didn't last long enough to garner a laugh. Too bad.
The boom mike is seen quite often at the top of the screen. The video quality doesn't really bother me too much except it seems as if they use hidden cameras, or spy cameras in several scenes, like in the beginning when they are at the convenient store.
The good thing I can say is the music and locations. The music has good rap music though most likely promoting some of the rappers in the film, which is okay, I guess, but doesn't really help the film. At a few points I thought I was watching a music video, such as when the main characters go to the strip club, and other instances after that. The locations were all, it seems, actual places. The convenient store looked like an actual convenient store so did the Comedy Club, strip club, etc., made it more realistic but didn't really make the film better. There are aerial shots that are nice but most likely stock footage.
The acting wasn't too bad. Much of it seemed improvised but even so I've seen worse acting in some low budget urban drama and horror films.
There's the usual dialogue of profanity but not as much as I thought it'd be. A lot of sexual dialogue which I did expect. There's also nudity but not too much but the sexual scenes, at a couple points, seem to cross into softcore pornography but only slightly. But there's the usual "sex with your clothes on" stuff. There's minimal violence and during those scenes, such as the robbery, it seems they spliced the film to make it more "realistic" or not, I don't know. Perhaps it was there way to signify the scene to be more than it was. Or the editor just couldn't edit in the sound correctly.
The first hour seems to be the "comedy" even though I only laughed once, and the last 45 minutes seemed to be more "dramatic". Maybe they were going for a dramedy, or something.
I give the film a solid 4/10. It's not the worst I've seen but it was okay for what it is--though not comedic as billed.
