So Sweet! Giada DeLaurentiis Gets Cake for Breakfast on Her 46th Birthday Thanks to Boyfriend Shane Farley

22 August 2016 3:49 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

What does Giada de Laurentiis eat for breakfast on her birthday? Cake, of course!  The restaurateur and Food Network star's 46th birthday got off to an excellent start Monday when her boyfriend, Shane Farley, presented her with a rather tempting-looking chocolate cake in the morning—and of course she shared a pic of the confection on Instagram. And not only was Farley the one doing the baking (or at least visiting the bakery), he was also wielding the camera. "Breakfast of champions on my bday!! Thx to @shanefarley #i❤️mybday," Giada captioned the photo, which is of her taking a picture of the cake. Looks like life »

Mistresses Recap: Dangerous Women

You know things are getting dire on Mistresses when I’m referencing an Ariana Grande song title in my headline.

I mean, give me Jody Watley or Haley Reinhart or Beyoncé all day, every day. But the High Priestess of the High Pony? Eh. You can leave her discs in the 99 cent bin next to the supermarket checkout aisle, for all I care.

2016 Emmy Contenders: Reality Competition

13 June 2016 10:30 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

13This category continually churns out all manner of drama, comedy and larger-than-life characters, but Emmy voters have been sticking with the same set of nominees for almost a decade.

While no one is arguing about the high production values and quality of “The Amazing Race,” “Project Runway,” last year’s winner, “The Voice,” and “Top Chef,” wouldn’t it be great to see entertaining series such as “MasterChef Junior,” “America’s Got Talent,” “Face Off,” cultural touchstone “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and the growing phenomenon “American Ninja Warrior” — all showcasing talented folks and mostly devoid of backbiting, bleeped words and horrible behavior — getting a nod?

Cablers such as Food Network and Hgtv have built their brands with unscripted series, including successful entries in the reality competition arena. Series from those lifestyle networks that are stepping up their, ahem, games, include “Chopped” — which has inspired many a family to test their mettle at home — the deliciously subversive “Cutthroat Kitchen,” “Brother vs. Brother” and “Ellen’s Design Challenge.” “Lip Sync Battle” is a viral phenomenom as well.

Or will voters find it in their hearts to reward “American Idol” in its final season?

Anthony Bourdain's Latest Thoughts on Guy Fieri May Prove There Is Still Beef Between the Chefs

6 June 2016 2:13 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Isn't food supposed to unite instead of divide us?! Just when we thought Anthony Bourdain squashed his beef with Guy Fieri, the celebrity chef decided to discuss the Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives host in a new magazine interview. While he certainly has some nice things to say (we think) about the Food Network star, other parts are leaving a bad taste in some fans' mouths. "I find Guy Fieri a rich and deep vein of comedy, there's no doubt about it, and he's worthy of a solid and maybe relentless mocking as anyone who has made his sartorial choices deserves," he shared in this week's Food Issue of Adweek. "But is he bad for the world? On balance, probably »

Rachael Ray Sent Rachel Roy a Boozy Gift Following the Beyoncé ''Becky'' Drama

11 May 2016 5:40 PM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Rachael Ray made sure Rachel Roy had something to chase that lemonade. In case you've forgotten, the famous chef got thrown into the Beyoncé "Becky with the good hair" drama after the Beyhive misdirected their anger at the wrong person, going after Ray instead of Roy (the names are pretty close, but still...). Regardless, the 47-year-old Food Network star got a glimpse into the wrath Queen B fans can dish, so both ladies sent each other a coping gift to ease the pain. "Rachel sent me flowers and I sent her a bottle, a big bottle of wine and a straw," Ray told Us Weekly at the HealthCorps 10th Annual Garden Gala in New York City on Tuesday. "[I was going to send Roy] »

Food Network Star Returns For 12th Season With Comeback Kitchen – Meet The Contestants

1 April 2016 12:39 PM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Food Network Star has managed a place in the upper tier of reality competition programs, but it is somewhat unique insofar as it doesn’t really seem to have any legitimate record when it comes to meeting its alleged goal. It certainly rocketed out of the gates, and has had some notable winners, but after 11 seasons, and several shifts in format (like who chooses the winner), Food Network Star certainly draws its own audience, but it doesn’t exactly find stars… or at least, Stars.

Quick, name the last three winners and the shows they were given on the network. Good luck.

Quite honestly, the main flaw seems to be in letting people progress deeper and deeper into the competition without any idea what their show is going to be. Sure, they’re cooking, and they are, for the most part, doing pretty well with their screen challenges, but then »

Bobby Flay appears to have a new woman in his life! The Food Network star was photographed getting cuddly and cute with Masters of Sex actress Helene Yorke, 31, in New York City earlier this week. It appears Flay, 51, was in attendance at Yorke's Broadway play, American Psycho the Musical. Afterward, the two were spotted getting affectionate in the street while chatting with friends. The actress, wearing a maroon coat and jeans, kept her arms wrapped tightly around the famous chef who leaned in closely to her embrace. Flay is coming up on a year since he filed for divorce from his wife, Stephanie March. The pair split in April 2015 after 10 years of marriage as Flay wrote that their »

Comedians on Food Network? Scripps Seeks Laughs to Court Younger Crowd

4 March 2016 12:26 PM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Kathleen Finch wants cooks, home-builders and explorers to laugh a little more.

When viewers of Food Network, Travel Channel and Hgtv tune in to those cable outlets in the not-too-distant future, chances are they will encounter  popular comedians talking about the food they eat, the places they travel to and the way they do their jobs. It’s a description that reminds one of “Insomnica,” the cult-favorite Comedy Central series that had comedian Dave Attell take a boozy pass through a city’s nightlife. Already, Andy Richter, who plays sidekick to late-night host Conan O’Brien, is associated with Food Network’s “Celebrity Food Fight,” and shows are in development at the company that will involve Arsenio Hall and David Alan Grier.

“You will see us veering into the world of comedy a little bit,” said Finch, who was named chief programming, content and brand officer for Scripps Networks Interactive, »

Deirdre O’Hearn to Replace Bob Tuschman as Food Network Svp

21 January 2016 7:52 AM, PST | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Bob Tuschman, the veteran programmer whose time at Food Network dates back to the days before it featured Paula Deen, will leave the Scripps Networks-owned cable outlet at the end of the month, and will be replaced by  Deirdre “Didi” O’Hearn, who will serve as senior vice president, programming and development for the network and its sister outlet, Cooking Channel.

The move is the latest in a series of changes made at Scripps since Kathleen Finch was appointed the company’s chief programming, content and brand officer in August. Brooke Johnson, who supervised programming at Food Network for more than a decade, introducing more reality-competition programs and shows featuring celebrities who were not chefs, stepped down from her post last August as well.

“Since joining Food Network and Cooking Channel in 2014, it was quickly apparent that Didi’s skills and expertise represent exactly the creative leadership our beloved brands require, »
