Though there have been numerous ties at the nominations level, this was the only year to date when there was a tie in the final voting, between Kim Basinger (LA Confidential) and Gloria Stewart (Titanic) for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture.
