Comic-Con 2017 Interview: Ghost Wars Executive Producer Dennis Heaton on Creating a Whole New Supernatural World for the Upcoming Syfy Series

28 July 2017 2:47 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Set to premiere this fall (hopefully in time for the Halloween season) is Syfy's new paranormal-themed series Ghost Wars, which boasts an incredible ensemble that includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Kim Coates, Meat Loaf, Avan Jogia, and Kandyse McClure. While in San Diego last weekend at Comic-Con, Daily Dead briefly spoke with Ghost Wars executive producer Dennis Heaton during a press event for the show, and he chatted about creating a supernatural series that can stand out amongst its peers, his experiences working with Syfy, putting together the cast of Ghost Wars, and more.

So, based on the trailer, this looks a little bit different than what we may be expecting. I don't know what a typical supernatural show is, but it seems like there’s more than just some ghosts going on in this.

Dennis Heaton: Yeah, it's a pretty atypical supernatural show. It was one of the things, »

How 'Supernatural' Pulled Off That Comic-Con Surprise With Kansas

28 July 2017 2:20 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - TV News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - TV News news »

How did Supernatural pull off a surprise rock show in the middle of San Diego Comic-Con?

Ending the annual pop culture convention with a bang on Sunday, iconic rock band Kansas surprised more than 7,200 Supernatural diehards assembled in Hall H with a live performance of the show's unofficial theme song, "Carry on Wayward Son." With an impressive light show and screens spanning the entire length of the biggest room at Comic-Con showing highlights from the past 12 seasons of The CW's longest-running series, the event was less like a panel and more like an arena rock concert.

Supernatural: CW Showrunner Teases Season 13 Villain

27 July 2017 1:50 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

TV Line reports Supernatural co-showrunner, Andrew Dabb is teasing the "big bad" for the drama's 13th season on The CW -- and it's not Lucifer's son, Jack. According to the report, Dabb said, "It’s an old — let’s call him friend — who we have not seen for many years." Reporter Vlada Gelman floated her own theory about who it may be. Check out some unspoiled speculation, after the jump. The season 12 Supernatural finale, "All Along the Watchtower," was a deadly one, with Crowley (Mark Sheppard) finally stepping up and sacrificing himself, and Lucifer (Mark Pellegrino) killing Castiel (Misha Collins) -- at least temporarily. Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) also had to watch as Lucifer shoved Mary Winchester (Samantha Smith) into the rift that leads to a post-apocalyptic world, in which Sam »

Supernatural Season 13’s Big Bad Isn’t Necessarily Whom You’d Expect

27 July 2017 11:39 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Throughout the years, Sam and Dean Winchester have certainly had a lot to contend with on Supernatural. Hell, both have been killed on several occasions, not to mention the multiple instances when they literally saved the world.

After having witnessed the closing moments to what was a barn-burner of a season finale this past May, many of us would assume that Lucifer’s newborn – and rapidly maturing – son, Jack, would be the next major threat to present itself, but showrunner Andrew Dabb hints that someone else will be causing even greater headaches for our favorite hunters.

Here’s what he had to say when speaking with TV Line at San Diego Comic-Con:

“[Lucifer’s child] Jack is not the biggest threat they are dealing with. It’s an old — let’s call him friend — who we have not seen for many years.”

If that sounds vague, it should help that Dabb added the »

Who Is the Real Baddie of 'Supernatural' Season 13?

26 July 2017 7:19 AM, PDT | buddytv.com | See recent BuddyTV news »

Given the way that Supernatural season 12 ended, the primary antagonist (or obstacle) for Sam and Dean seems obvious. Sam and Dean were unable to halt the birth of Lucifer's son, Jack.  According to the show's Sdcc panel Jack will play a big part in the season. Jack just won't be the Big Bad.

In an interview with TVLine, showrunner Andrew Dabb talked about the main villain of season 13 and said, "Jack is not the biggest threat they are dealing with it's an old -- let's call him friend -- who we have not seen for many years." This "friend" is not "currently in our world" but comes from the alternate world that was introduced in the season 12 finale. »
