Alfano exits B'way for TV Tray

18 July 2007 | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Broadway Video Television president JoAnn Alfano has left Lorne Michaels' company to launch her own banner, TV Tray Entertainment.

Alfano, who was a development executive at NBC and Universal Media Studios' predecessor NBC Studios before joining BV in 2003, is staying put at UMS with a two-year first-look development deal.

Meanwhile, BV is in the process of re-upping its primetime development deal with the studio. The company is expected to expand development in New York and to announce its staffing plans soon.

"We are truly thrilled to welcome JoAnn in this new capacity, and we know that her successful development experience at BV and on the studio and network side will pay creative dividends," UMS president Katherine Pope said. "It's wonderful to see her open her own production company under our roof, and we can't wait to get started working."

At BV, Alfano was involved in the development and served as an executive producer on the critically praised comedies 30 Rock for NBC, Sons & Daughters for ABC and USA Network's upcoming comedic one-hour series To Love and Die.

Alfano will continue to serve as an executive producer on the BVTV/UMS-produced Love, which was created by Sara Goodman and stars Shiri Appleby, Tim Matheson, Frances Fisher, Christine Adams and Kristin Datillo. »
