13 August 2015 12:24 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Grimm” co-creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf have signed a new overall deal with Universal Television, Variety has learned exclusively.

The two-year, multimillion-dollar pact will keep the duo providing exec producer and showrunner services on “Grimm.”

That series, a steady performer for NBC’s Friday night slate, will return with its fifth season on Oct. 30.

The supernatural drama, inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers’ fairy tales, tied with CBS’ “Blue Bloods” as the season’s No. 1-rated scripted series on the night in adults 18-49. Despite airing this spring in the generally low-rated 8 p.m. hour on Fridays, its original episodes averaged a 2.1 demo rating and about 7.4 million viewers overall, according to Nielsen’s “live plus-7” estimates.

Before “Grimm,” Greenwalt served as exec producer on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and co-created its spinoff “Angel” with Joss Whedon. He also co-created and exec produced Fox’s short-lived, yet critically acclaimed, drama “Profit. »

The character, like Hewitt, was also expecting another child, and decided to take a step back to focus on her family. Call it life imitating art. Showrunner Erica Messer said that wasn't the original plan, but the writers worked it in. "It felt like we had every opportunity to write to the truth of it: She's having another baby. 'Top Five', 'Annie', 'Exodus', 'Penguins of Madagascar' and More On DVD & Blu-ray This Week

Top Five Chris Rock's movie was one of the better comedies last year and it took me a couple times to realize this so definitely give it a chance and after that first viewing, if you aren't entirely convinced, give it a second spin.

Penguins of Madagascar Never saw it, never intend to. However, the penguin characters were the best part of the first two Madagascar movies, which in and of themselves, weren't very good.

Ride the Pink Horse (Criterion Collection) I have a copy of this, but haven't yet watched it, though I'm looking forward to it and will share some thoughts down the road. For now, here's Criterion's description: Hollywood actor turned idiosyncratic auteur Robert Montgomery directs and stars in this striking crime drama based on a novel by Dorothy B. Hughes. He plays a tough-talking former GI who comes to a small New Mexico town to »

Flickering Myth sat down with Camryn Manheim to talk about Extant

Having been praised on during its run on Amazon Prime, Extant heads to Syfy tonight here in the UK. To celebrate, Flickering Myth sat down with Camryn Manheim (Ghost Whisperer) to talk about her role in the show, working with Halle Berry and what to expect from the first season.

FM: What attracted you to the role of Sam Burton?

Camryn Manheim: You know, I knew it was set in the future, so it was a little bit science fictiony and it had a little adventure and thriller to it, and it was so futuristic. And that’s not generally what I‟m drawn to. I like dramatic, legal, it‟s just where I come from. So, I got the script and I started reading it and I’m like, you’re kidding me, you’re kidding me. »
