Camryn Manheim Joins ‘Masters of Sex’ on Showtime (Exclusive)

Camryn Manheim has booked a role on Showtime’s “Masters of Sex” for its fourth season, Variety has learned exclusively.

Manheim — who starred on “The Practice” and “Ghost Whisperer” — will play Jade, a new-age guru who runs a partnering seminar for singles. She will appear in one episode, but with the option for more, as the season is currently in production.

Manheim’s most recent credits include “Younger,” “Hand of God,” “Person of Interest,” “Extant” and “Harry’s Law.” She is repped by UTA.

The new season of “Masters of Sex” will begin in 1968. The episodes will travel through the “swinging ’70s” when the characters will take on new partners, both professionally and sexually. Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan star as human sexuality pioneers William Masters and Virginia JohnsonCaitlin Fitzgerald and Annaleigh Ashford also star.

Masters of Sex” Season 4 premieres Sunday, Sept. 11 at 10 p.m.

William Schallert, the veteran character actor and former SAG president, died Sunday at the age of 93, TheWrap has confirmed. Television producer Ian Sander has died at the age of 68. With wife, Kim Moses, he founded Sander/Moses Productions, the company behind TV series including Profiler, Ghost Whisperer, and more recently, Reckless, which was cancelled by CBS after one season.

According to Deadline, Sander and Moses were just wrapping up production on their Spark TV show pilot for ABC. An alternate-history steampunk drama starring Antonia Thomas and Rege-Jean Page, Spark comes from British playwright Michael Cooney who executive produces with Sander and Thomas.

Veteran TV producer Ian Sander died in his home on Tuesday at the age of 68. Cause of death remains unclear. Best known for executive producing the CBS series “Ghost Whisperer,” Sander was partnered with his wife Kim Moses for their company Sander/Moses productions. The duo most recently worked on ABC’s genre pilot “Spark,” set in an alternate reality where gas and coal fuel the world. Ian Sander, the prolific TV producer who with his wife Kim Moses was the force behind such series as “Ghost Whisperer” and “Profiler,” died Tuesday at his home in Malibu. He was 68.

Sander and Moses have consistently fielded multiple pilots during the past few years. In the current development cycle the pair exec produced the ABC drama pilot “Spark,” which shot in Prague in March and early April. Sander also worked as a director.

Sander and Moses were early pioneers in harnessing online fan activity around television series to drive awareness and viewership for linear TV series. The pair developed a “Total Engagement Experience” campaign involving webisodes, viral videos, online gaming and what were then nascent social media platforms to support “Ghost Whisperer,” the CBS drama that starred Jennifer Love Hewitt as a woman who received messages from the dead. The drama ran from 2005 to 2010.

Spark: ABC Orders Steampunk Soap Series Pilot Presentation

ABC has ordered a TV show pilot presentation for Spark. A soapy steampunk story, Spark is written by British playwright, Michael Cooney, who will executive produce with Ian Sander and Kim Moses. Ghost Whisperer veterans, Sander and Moses, executive produced Reckless, which was cancelled by CBS after one season of 13 episodes.

Per Deadline, Spark was previously titled Power. Starz already has a Power TV series, starring Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, and Joseph Siko.
