Did you watch, Ice Cube starrer, Are We There Yet? and think "man, this would be great as a series that I could watch every week!" Well if so, someone was listening, as The Hollywood Reporter is...umm... reporting that Terry Crews (the dad from "Everybody Hates Chris") has been signed up to star in a television series based off it. Ice Cube will be on board as producer and TBS has ordered ten episodes, with a possible ninety more on the horizon. I'm really not sure what this is going to cover, mainly because I've never seen the 2005 travesty or its apparently even worse sequel, Are We Done Yet? Checking on the box office figures though, they made over $150 million between them. So many talks, and quality walks in the case of just about anything. Now, if a commenter knows better than I, then please chime in, but isn't the premise of the film that their

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as

A breakout hit in 2005, Are We There Yet? starred Ice Cube as Nick, a player who tries to woo a divorcee by shuttling around her two hard-to-handle kids. Having grossed $82 million, the comedy begat the 2007 sequel Are We Done Yet? — and apparently the answer was no!

TBS has signed a deal with Joe Roth and Ice Cube to turn the 2005 hit movie Are We There Yet into a family comedy series, distributed by Debmar Mercury under the same model that launched Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Meet the Browns.
“We are confident that Are We There Yet? will fit extremely well within TBS’s popular and diverse comedy lineup,” said Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “It’s great to be working with Debmar-Mercury again after enjoying such enormous success with Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Meet the Browns. We also look forward to forging a new relationship with Revolution Studios and Cube Vision.”

TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the new sitcom, slated to premiere in June 2010, with the option for an additional 90 episodes. Last month was particularly hard on television lovers. We lost a lot of indelible talent during June. Like their shows, there are a lot of talented people that won't be back in the Fall.
They include David Carradine (The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Virginian, Wagon Train, Kung Fu, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Charmed, Medium, Alias, and Jackie Chan Adventures), Ward Costello (The Edge of Night, The Streets of San Francisco, Little House on the Prairie, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Newhart, and General Hospital), Johnny Palermo (Passions, Campus Ladies, Just for Kicks, Everybody Hates Chris, and ER), Michael Roof (Hype and Raising the Roofs), Hal Riddle (Green Acres, The FBI, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Eight is Enough, The Waltons, and Dallas), Ken Roberts (Candid Camera, Love of Life, The Secret Storm, and The Electric Company), Anne Roberts Nelson (I Love Lucy, All in the Family, Gunsmoke, and The

All five of last year's Emmy rivals for best comedy actress are back in the race and seem likely to return on July 16: Christina Applegate ("Samantha Who?"), America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"), Tina Fey ("30 Rock"), Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("The New Adventures of Old Christine") and Mary-Louise Parker ("Weeds"). Since the TV academy is expanding this category to six contenders this year, that means there's room for one more. Don't count out Amy Poehler just because "Parks and Recreation" hasn't scored big with TV critics and Nielsen viewers. Unlike the previous three Emmy derbies, nominees will be chosen by a popular vote of members of the academy's acting branch – and, of course, Poehler is hugely popular. Personally, I'm rooting for her to get in. Poehler told Gold Derby that there will be no "diva clawfest" between her and former "Saturday Night Live" costar Tina Fey (last year's champ) if they both nab noms,

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is looking for ratings numbers in the vacuum of space
After being given the Friday night treatment by Fox, Ronald D. Moore’s Virtuality didn’t fare too well.
The movie that was originally slated to be a pilot for a series that was your standard fare from Moore, employing his style and voice to air his perspective on different human scenarios. In this case, it was about 12 space-faring crew members who were facing isolation on a 10-year space journey, and, dealing with what looked like a faulty virtual reality system.
I enjoyed it and the majority of the Screen Rant readers who commented on my review concurred that it was a good watch.

Friday Night Bites
But Friday night did what it does and bit a chunk out of the ratings for this science fiction drama. Science fiction and fantasy just don’t click with the Friday night viewers.

With each of Tyler Perry’s films scoring respectable box office earnings on their opening weekends, the argument that he’s filling a niche market long ignored by Hollywood merits closer consideration. Has Hollywood been ignoring the African-American viewer? The notion does carry some weight. Compared to all the films that skew primarily Caucasian in casting and targeted demographic, films made by Hollywood closely resembling Perry’s in any given year can generally be counted on one hand. Obviously this doesn’t mean that the average film can’t be enjoyed by people of all races, creeds and upbringings – but there are undeniable variations in family customs between say an Anglo Saxon Catholic couple and an African-American Baptist couple. Both groups may be able to relate to Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts blushing on the screen, but there will be an inevitable gap in how each pair will relate to what they see on screen.

With Smallville moving to Fridays and Supernatural getting a new vampire neighbor on Thursday nights, what does the future look like for both shows?
Various factors have me thinking “bleak.”
As we know, Smallville is moving to the dreaded ratings vacuum called Friday night. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a place networks put shows they don’t care about. We all saw how Friday night killed viewer numbers for The Sarah Connor Chronicles when it was moved there. And Tscc had more viewers than Smallville.
Back on Thursdays, The Vampire Diaries will be the lead-in to Supernatural in the 9 o’clock hour. This isn’t necessarily the doom of the show, but we need to remember that Eric Kripke had a 5 year story outline for the Supernatural. Yet on the down side of things, the Winchester brothers will be up against Fringe on Thursdays at 9 - that
