TVLine Items: Beauty Gets a Shrink, BSG Fave Visits Arrow, Sytycd Renewed and More!

Beauty and the Beast‘s Catherine may want to check if she has any tells, because TVLine has learned that onetime Lie to Me lie detector Brendan Hines is joining the CW drama as a police department psychologist who will get inside the pretty detective’s head — “or at least tries to,” says exec producer Sherri Cooper.

Cooper says that with Hines’ seemingly mild-mannered shrink come questions, such as, “Who does he work for? How much does Catherine open up to him? Does she trust him?” The Ep also teases “good chemistry” between the characters.

Mary Watson appears in Episode 9, slated to air Dec. 13, and she’s not very happy about her daughter’s choice of profession. As established in the pilot, Lucy Liu‘s Joan “doesn’t feel a tremendous amount of support from [her parents] when it comes to her second career as a sober companion,” explains executive producer Rob Doherty.

But another, unexpected dynamic may prove even more interesting.

Criterion Collection: The Forgiveness of Blood | Blu-ray Review

16 October 2012 9:00 AM, PDT | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

Joshua Marston, the director of the 2004 Oscar nominated Maria Full of Grace finally returns with his next feature length narrative, the Silver Berlin Bear for Best Screenplay winning (2011 Berlin International Film Festival) The Forgiveness of Blood, a blood feud tale set in modern day Albania. The Los Angeles native once again proves he has considerable talents for focusing on subjects not often depicted by American filmmakers, with tense, enthralling narratives. With this latest feature, Marston sets his sights on a country not often documented in the annals of cinema.

The film opens with a brief characterization of main protagonists Nik (Tristan Halilaj) and his sister, Rudina (Sindi Lacej). Both are currently students, and Nik is close to graduating from high school, discussing plans to open an internet café, and courting a female peer in his class. However, the film succumbs to its predicament rather quickly. Two patriarchs are sparring over »

'Breaking Bad' and 'Magic Mike': Betsy Brandt's 'parents are relieved that my clothes stay on'

She'd walk though fire to help her extended family, but Marie Schrader is stressed to the max by the violence surrounding her, Betsy Brandt says of her character on AMC's Emmy-winning "Breaking Bad."

"We've laughed about how there really never could be enough security for Marie," the actress, who happily is much more laid back than her TV alter ego, tells Zap2it. "They've had a sniper watching the house to make sure everyone was safe, but Marie would be asking, 'What about Seal Team 6? Are they available? They should be here!' "

Brandt says she has grown very close to her co-stars while filming the series in New Mexico, so she's trying not to think about how they currently are moving into the home stretch before "Breaking Bad" ends next year. "It's also exciting because I'm having all these meetings about my next project," she adds. "I love working on 'Breaking Bad, »

Blu-ray, DVD Release: The Forgiveness of Blood

Blu-ray & DVD Release Date: Oct. 16, 2012

Price: DVD $29.95, Blu-ray $39.95

Studio: Criterion

Tristan Halilaj and Sindi Lacej are forced to grow up quickly in The Forgiveness of Blood.

A tough coming-of-age drama, 2011’s The Forgiveness of Blood is the second feature by writer-director Joshua Marston, who broke out in 2004 with his Oscar-nominated movie Maria Full of Grace, about a young Colombian woman working as a drug mule

In his follow-up to Maria, Marston turns his camera on another corner of the world: contemporary northern Albania, a place still troubled by the ancient custom of inter-familial blood feuds. From this reality, Marston sculpts a fictional narrative about a teenage brother (Tristan Halilaj) and sister (Sindi Lacej) who are physically and emotionally trapped in a cycle of violence, a result of their father’s entanglement with a rival clan over a piece of land.
