Greg Berlanti is adding yet another comedy to his large TV development slate.

The super producer behind the CW’s superhero shows is attached to exec produce “Pushing,” a comedy from writer/actress Marisa Coughlan that has landed at Fox, Variety has learned exclusively.

“Pushing” follows Sydney, who’s pushing 40, and decides to go back to work as a rock band manager while struggling to raise two small children and keep the passion alive with her husband, which is no problem because she’s got this — except for when she doesn’t.

The script was sold on spec from Coughlan, an actress, known for her role as Ursula in the cult favorite movie “Super Troopers.” This project marks her first major writing gig.

As a writer, Coughlan penned the TV movie “Lost and Found.” As an actress, she just reprised her role in “Super Troopers 2.” She also starred in “Freddy Got Fingered” and “Teaching Mrs. Tingle,” and »

9 October 2016 3:42 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

When Sleepy Hollow debuted four seasons ago, Ichabod Crane was a time-transplanted Colonial Army captain with an eidetic memory, a yen for donut holes and a keen ability to apply historical wisdom to modern supernatural snafus.

But over time, series star Tom Mison notes, the peculiar genius was as likely to save the day as he was to be moved to the brink tears by bespoke emoji while hopped up on dental anesthesia.

Amazon Greenlights The Tick, I Love Dick, And Jean-Claude Van Johnson

27 September 2016 6:08 PM, PDT | | See recent AreYouScreening news »

After another round of letting people check out pilots, Amazon Studios has given the go ahead on three series, and they’re all pretty fantastic.

I Love Dick, Jean-Claude Van Johnson, and The Tick all got series orders, and will come out in 2017. You can still catch the pilots if you didn’t manage to get to them yet, and at least now be more comfortable in the fact that you’ll get to watch the shows.

I Love Dick is a strong, but odd, effort starring Kevin Bacon, and is executive produced by Jill Soloway and Andrea Sperling of Transparent, so you can feel pretty safe there.

Jean-Claude Van Johnson is a weirdly fun spin on spy efforts that I think will suck in even those going in with low expectations.

And, The Tick is The Tick.

Get all the info below, and give the pilots a look.

The annual list, compiled by Forbes magazine, tracks earnings from June 2015 to June 2016 and adds in each actor’s endorsements along with their per-episode salaries. That explains why Vergara leads all TV actors, male or female, with a whopping $43 million, thanks to lucrative ad campaigns (like Head & Shoulders shampoo) and licensing deals. Notorious Review – TV- ABC Aims To Throw The Whole Well At You

22 September 2016 9:38 AM, PDT | | See recent AreYouScreening news »

As the television world exists now, one of the main pushes we see from every network is an effort to sub-brand itself as having a “kind of show.” That’s a slightly convoluted way of saying that the networks think fans of one of their shows look for a similar “feel” from the next show. If a new show were thrown at you, they want you to be able to guess who is going to air it.

With that in mind, there’s an extent to which it’s hard to blame ABC for Notorious. It had to seem like a good Shondaland fit, and it looks decent on paper. You do you ABC.

If you throw in Josh Berman (Bones, Drop Dead Diva, The Blacklist) as creator, so much the better.

The trouble is that the world of laughable melodrama, and/or purposeful guilty pleasures that are overwrought with contrivance as a writing style, »
