I really enjoy Ron White's work (and the rest of the Blue Collar crew's), but this toned-down effort demonstrates that Ron's work is the least suited to network television. By the time the "bleepers" got done with the two short cartoon segments in this pilot, I had a ringing in my ears ("Naked Eating Cheetos" and "The Sunglass Hut"), but it was good to finally see Sluggo :) The Dr. Phil segment (with Dave Atell) was a little puerile, but not every "bit" is going to resonate with the audience. The "Best Man" bit was probably the closest thing to a "real" Ron White routine that didn't get bleeped. Of course, his classic "They Call Me Tater Salad" routine could probably also escape evisceration. Let's just hope that he does a lot more cable and live shows, leaving the prudes on network TV to their own devices.
