Did You Know?

Genesis and their management had been principal investors in the Vari-Lite automated lighting company. This tour marked the debut of the second generation or "Series 200" Vari-Lite system which included the Artisan control console, VL2 spot, and VL3 wash luminaire fixtures. The large size of the lighting rig reflects the new system's useful capacity of up to 400 individual control channels (versus 96 for the older system). The VL3 was the first fixture capable of producing full spectrum cross-fades between colors by use of a patented color mixing system, as opposed to fixed wheels of single-color filters. The VL3 also brought a fuller, more diverse look to the lighting design; the older system's spot-only fixtures tended to give a very hard-edged look to vari-lite installations. See more »

Great but not HD
15 July 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Don't be misled by the fact that this concert was taped in HD. Keep in mind that we're talking about 1988 HD. The cameras used were tube cameras with all their artifacts.

The pictures is softer than we're used to now with 3 chip CCD cameras and there is streaking when the hand-held cameras shoot into the lighting trusses.

Also the way this is shot shows its age. It's a bit static and slow But that's how these concerts used to be shot in the 80s.

That doesn't change the fact that the content is great and the 5.1 audio mix excellent.
