Jeff Goldblum was offered a role in Captain America: The First Avenger

17 October 2017 1:17 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Jeff Goldblum is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe this month as he takes on the role of The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, but it turns out we could have seen him as part of the McU much sooner as Kevin Feige has revealed that he was wanted for a small role in Captain America: The First Avenger.

“I think we spoke to him or offered him a role in Captain America: The First Avenger,” Feige tells Uproxx. “I think the role of the senator that was part of that Uso tour in the first Captain America film. And he either wasn’t available or wasn’t interested or whatever. And thank goodness, because that would have just been a small thing and instead we got to wait for the Grandmaster, which is about as amazing as a Jeff Goldblum ‘Goldblum-iness’ could be.”

‘Wonder Woman’ Blu-ray Review

13 October 2017 10:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Stars: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Eugene Brave Rock, Lucy Davis, Elena Anaya, Ann Wolfe, Lisa Loven Kongsli, Ann Ogbomo, James Cosmo, Martin Bishop | Written by Allan Heinberg | Directed by Patty Jenkins

Following her scene-stealing appearance in Batman v Superman, Wonder Woman finally gets her own movie. Yes, she brought the Junkie Xl theme with her, the whole thing revolves around the silly Dawn of Justice, and there’s an obscene amount of speed-ramping, but bear with it, because Wonder Woman is actually, refreshingly, breathtakingly good.

With a few additions, this origin tale tells the story of Wonder Woman as the comic book literate would recognise it: moulded from clay and raised as an Amazon warrior on the all-female island of Themyscira, Diana – daughter of Queen Hippolyta and King of the Gods Zeus – travels to the world of mortals »

Thor: Ragnarok’s Jeff Goldblum Was Originally Eyed For Captain America

13 October 2017 7:35 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Before he was cast as Sakaar’s gleefully eccentric Grandmaster, Jeff Goldblum was approached about a totally different role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In anticipation of Thor: Ragnarok hitting theaters, Uproxx caught up with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, who reflected on Goldblum’s first foray into the bustling world of superhero movies. But had things panned out differently, ol’ Jeff Goldblum would have been drafted into the McU long before the God of Thunder touched down on Sakaar; in fact, the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom star came close to playing Senator Brandt in Captain America: The First Avenger.

If that name sounds familiar, it should; Brandt was the one responsible for recruiting the young Steve Rogers in the first place, and later transformed Chris Evans’ character into the star-spangled hero we know and love. Michael Brandon wound up landing the role in 2011, and it’s fair to say that »

Behind The Scenes Photos From The Avengers That Every Fan Should See

12 October 2017 8:10 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Often, what you see on a screen when it comes to Hollywood blockbusters is not at all what the initial footage looked like. Whether it’s CGI, practical effects, models, costumes, make-up or any of the other numerous tactics employed to create movie magic, the finished product is almost always enhanced in some manner, especially when it comes to big budget films.

Thankfully, nearly every major blockbuster has its production recorded and documented by photographers and over the years, some truly incredible, exciting and often hilarious behind the scenes photos have made their way online. And so, on that note, join us today as we settle into another edition of our weekly column, where we’ll be exploring Joss Whedon’s The Avengers.

These days, the aforementioned director is almost treated as though he’s a real life superhero, but after what he did with this film, that treatment is somewhat justified. »

Review: FIFA 18 (2017)

11 October 2017 2:32 PM, PDT | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

The FIFA football franchise has come a long way since its origins in the early 90s. Like any other distinguished game series, it has certainly had its ups and downs with a need to constantly innovate to stand out. It is hard for a series which comes out every year to significantly differentiate itself from each previous year’s title other than updating teams to reflect the Summer transfer window or promotions but it’s clear, however, that with FIFA 18 there has been a definite improvement and it’s the little details that improve the overall experience.

Upon launching the game the first time you are treated to a cinematic intro of the Madrid derby. Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo make the game 1-1. A darting run by Ronaldo is brought abruptly to an end by a heavy tackle on the edge of the box resulting in a »

Spider-Man: Homecoming becomes the highest-grossing superhero movie of the year

24 September 2017 10:05 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Earlier this month, Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming became the highest-grossing reboot of all time, thanks in no small part to its solid opening in China, and now the film has overtaken Wonder Woman and Guardians of the Galaxy to become the biggest superhero movie of the year so far.

By close of play this weekend, Homecoming has grossed $874.4 million, compared to $863.4 million for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, $819.6 million for Wonder Woman, and $616.8 million for Logan. It is also the fourth-biggest release of the year behind Beauty and the Beast ($1.263 billion), The Fate of the Furious ($1.239 billion) and Despicable Me 3 (1.019 billion).

In terms of the Spider-Man franchise, Homecoming still trails the franchise leader Spider-Man 3, which grossed $890.9 million back in 2017.

FIFA 18 Review

20 September 2017 9:00 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

With every passing year, the release of FIFA feels more and more like an event. Soccer’s real-life stars line up to talk about their in-game rating, to inspect their Fut cards and to emphasize their love of the brand. All the time, the line is being blurred between the sport we enact on our screens, and the real sport itself.

In FIFA 18, that’s never more evident than in the return of The Journey, the story of eighteen-year-old sensation Alex Hunter, now in his second season of professional football. Over the course of six chapters, EA unrolls the red carpet for its famous supporting cast who are faithfully motion-captured for their starring bow. From Ronaldo to Muller to Griezmann and a certain Gunners legend, the A-listers join Alex on a globetrotting adventure that feels like a big high-five to soccer itself.

Power Pack Movie Is Back on at Marvel?

12 years after Marvel used the rights to Power Pack as collateral in a deal that lead to the origins of Marvel Studios, the blockbuster studio is reportedly revisiting that property. A new report claims that, while we may be a ways off from a Power Pack movie actually happening, steps are being taken to put the movie into development, with longtime Marvel Studios executive Jonathan Schwartz being given executive oversight on the film. Jonathan Schwartz has been working for Marvel since 2009, where he first started as an assistant to Kevin Feige on Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, before being elevated to a producer on Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the upcoming Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel enlists Oscar-nominated production designer

With Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck on board to direct, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet working on a new draft of the script, the crew for Captain Marvel continues to expand, with Marvel bringing on board Oscar-nominated production designer Andy Nicholson for Carol Danvers’ big screen debut.

Nicholson has previously worked with Marvel Studios on Captain America: The First Avenger, where he served as supervising art director, while his production design credits include The Host, Divergent, Assassin’s Creed and the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He also received an Academy Award nomination for his work on Gravity, which should certainly put him in good stead for Carol’s cosmic adventure.
