  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): Arthur says to Iris that Cary Grant told him he came from Surrey, whereas Grant was born in Bristol, hence the statue erected to him there.

  • Continuity: Amanda's scarf/clothes in the scene at the end when she goes to meet Graham in the house

  • Continuity: More than halfway in the movie, after Amanda and Graham's meal at the restaurant. When Amanda gets out of the 4x4, the seat belt shoulder strap adjustment goes down, then back up on the post between the doors.

  • Continuity: When Amanada gets out of the car to run back to the house, the road they just drove down does not have any tire tracks.

  • Continuity: The position of Amanda's bra strap changes shot to shot while she's talking with Graham in bed.

  • Crew or equipment visible: When Graham is wearing his glasses the kitchen after the first night with Amanda, a camera light is reflected in the close-up of his face.

  • Continuity: In the "Chanukah Party" scene, the candles start very short, then grow in the next shot. Other irregularities in the levels of the candles are also noticeable.

  • Continuity: When Amanda is drinking her hot chocolate with marshmallows with Graham and the girls, she gets her milk mustache. The milk is small mustache in the middle. In the very next shot, when she hasn't drunk any more, the mustache is large and covers the length of her top lip. Then in the next shot it is small again.

  • Factual errors: The Film is set in December yet the sun is clearly in the position for summer, Longitude 34.2 Latitude 96.4.

  • Revealing mistakes: In the beginning of the movie, when Miles is producing a song for a movie, he hits all the wrong keys even though the computer screen shows the correct notes.

  • Factual errors: When Amanda is searching for her holiday, on the net appears a window with the countries' flags. The flag for Poland is not as it should be.

  • Errors in geography: Although the English scenes are set in Surrey, the cottage is typically Cotswold, as is the "restaurant" used in lunch date scene, which is ironic as "The Cotswolds" was first rejected by Amanda.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Graham and Amanda are in the car after their date, Amanda says that she is leaving in nine days and doesn't want to make things complicated. But later that night, at Graham's house, she says that she is leaving in one week.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: When Amanda is looking through a list of countries to visit on the internet, the icon next to South Africa is a picture of the old South African flag, which was replaced in 1994! However, it may just be that she is looking at a website that’s not up-to-date!

  • Factual errors: When Amanda is looking through the list of countries to visit on the Net the flag for England is in fact the flag of the United Kingdom consisting of 4 countries rather than just the England national flag.

  • Miscellaneous: Iris's house is constructed of a flat, smooth slate-like stone. However, in England, the main building material for houses such as Iris's would have been flint, a fist-sized gray rock, that would have given the house a rough pebbly look.

  • Continuity: The levels of liquid in the glasses change from the shot's taken from behind Iris to the shot's taken behind Arthur when they are having dinner.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): When Winslet and Black are in the video store, a shot behind Winslet is labelled as a rack with "Drama" but you can clearly see the films "13 Going On 30" and "10 Things I Hate About You" which are obviously not drama films.

  • Continuity: The middle knob on the stove is positioned side to side when Iris is in the kitchen, but after she lights the match, you see a close up of the knobs when she turns the right one. In that shot the middle knob is positioned straight up and down. When the computer "dings" and you see the front of the stove as she turns off the gas, the middle knob is again positioned side to side.

  • Continuity: At the start of the movie, Amanda's car doesn't take her to the house because the driver says he can't turn it around and yet at the end of the movie the car picks her up outside the house and is willing to drive back when she wants to.

  • Continuity: When Amanda is bored on her first night in Iris's home and is singing/dancing to 'Mr. Brightside' by the Killers, she has a wine glass in her right hand. When she sings the lyrics "but it's just the price I pay" the wine glass is still in her hand and when she continues "destiny is calling me" she throws her right arm in the air and the wine glass has disappeared.

  • Miscellaneous: In the scene where Iris is looking through Amanda's DVD collection (approximately 34 minutes into the movie) there are two identical copies of "The Glass house" visible on the same shelf just a few DVDs apart.

  • Continuity: When Iris is running around the house the way her scarf is tied changes from the movie room to the exercise room and back when she is seen running up the stairs. According to the commentary the scenes were shot separately.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Iris is on the plane to L.A, she is replying to a message from Jasper on her blackberry. When she has sent it, there is a quick shot at the 'message sent' and the date is clearly shown as Weds 18th Dec. However, the film is set for Xmas 2006 and December the 18th 2006 isn't a Wednesday, neither is December 2005.

  • Errors in geography: When Iris arrives in L.A. and is taking a taxi to Amanda's house, the cab drives along with the ocean to its right and turns left onto Sunset Blvd - this means that it is driving south. To get to Sunset Blvd from LAX airport, however, one would need to drive north.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Amanda is sitting in the limousine at the end of the movie (at exactly at 2:00:00 runtime) we see from the backseat of the car that all instruments show zero.

  • Audio/visual unsynchronized: When Amanda pours herself a glass of white wine, the "glugging" sound effect begins well before air starts entering the bottle.

  • Continuity: When Iris first views Amanda's bedroom there is no acrylic bench at the foot of the bed. When she is in bed and discovers the motorized blinds and the camera pans away from the bed, there it is at the foot of the bed.

  • Continuity: When Amanda is having lunch with Graham, the position of her hair on the left side (our right) changes between in front of her ear and tucked behind, between each question she asks/answers.

  • Factual errors: When Amanda first meets Graham for at approximately 1:10 am, she says that she had arrived around six hours earlier. At 7:00 pm it would have been completely dark outside at that time of year, yet Amanda is seen arriving at the cottage while it is still daylight.

  • Continuity: When Amanda leaves Graham, the car that picks her up is shown as being a Mercedes in one shot, then a BMW, then back to a Mercedes.

  • Continuity: While Iris and Arthur are talking in his office, through the office door window, you can see the sun/shadows change position on the car.

  • Continuity: When Amanda pulls up to the shop in her car after her wild ride, the wide shot from outside the car shows her putting her right hand up to her forehead, leaving the left down. When they cut to a close shot of her from the front, the hands are reversed, and she brings her left hand down from her forehead and the right is near her side.

  • Continuity: As Arthur and Iris talk in his office, his Oscar (behind him) faces left, then faces them, then faces left again. When it faces left, it is normal-size, but when it faces them, it is smaller-than-normal in relation to its base, but when it faces left again, is normal-size again.

  • Continuity: When Eli Wallach walks up the steps in the auditorium he gives a thumbs up with his right hand, immediately he turns and has his speech in his right hand.

  • Factual errors: When Amanda is lying in bed in England and sees her advert on the television, it is clear she is watching 'Little Britain' before it comes on. 'Little Britain' is broadcast on the BBC in England, which gets its money from TV licensing and does not show adverts.

  • Continuity: Iris steps off to the side and you clearly see her walk over to the other side of the aisle. (When Iris walks Arthur down the aisle at the ceremony, she steps off to the right. In the next shot, she is on the other side of the aisle.)

  • Continuity: When Amanda is fist taken to the cottage she has to walk as the limo can't get up the path, later when she wants to go back to the cottage she has to walk as the limo can't make it up the path, however when she is going home after the holiday the (exact same) limo is waiting outside the gate for her at the top of the lane it apparently can't get up.

  • Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): At the end of the film when Iris picks up Olivia from the stairs and says "Sophie give us a big kiss," Sophie is actually sat on the sofa with Miles in the living room.

  • Revealing mistakes: When Iris and Amanda are instant messaging near the beginning of the film, Amanda asks "Can I ask you one thing?" to which Iris responds "Of course." But when Amanda asks "Are there any men in your town?" and the shot flashes back to Iris, her response "Of course" no longer appears in the chat.

>>> WARNING: Here Be Spoilers <<<

Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title.

  • Continuity: SPOILER: When talking with Graham at his home, after his daughters have gone to bed, Amanda's earrings change length (position) throughout the conversation with him. The earrings are a gold chain that slides through the ear lobe.

  • Incorrectly regarded as goofs: SPOILER: When Amanda and Gram are together, Amanda picks up his phone and reads the caller ID "Sophie" and later in the movie "Olivia". In this day and age, many young children have cell phones. With the children's mother having died, it is likely that Graham would allow each to have a cell phone in order to reach him when they needed to. There could feasibly be other reasons as to how two separate names showed; however, this is not a plot hole. It simply requires audience thought that Graham may be a concerned and protective father, which would explain why he feasibly bought the girls cell phones.
