Trivia

The original actor to play the lead of Captain ReTard quit the project after principal photography was finished. The new Captain ReTard's parts were shot almost two years later. There was never a time when the cast was actually all together. See more »

Star Trek + Rednecks = HICK TREK
12 June 2005 | by (Nashville, TN) – See all my reviews

Both Leonard Nimoy (Mister Spock) and Billy Ray Cyrus have seen, and really like this Troma film! And well, there IS something quite funny about Redneck Spacemen! It could be in the way they think, or talk, or look. I'm not sure. But I do know that anyone who likes really stupid comedy will like a Hick Trek film. I could see a name actor like Billy Bob Thornton being in another H.T. sequel. Maybe now that Troma picked up the film for distribution, the franchise will continue and grow (how about a theatrical release?) Some people hate this film. Some people love it. Watch it at least twice, and then you can decide for yourself! If you're into the Star Trek television shows (especially the Next Generation), you'll "get" this film. If not, you'll still think it's funny! The puppets and animation don't hurt any either!
