Woody Allen steps in front of the camera for the first time since 2006's Scoop to join a typically starry cast in this quattro formaggi platter of love and laughs, made in the Eternal City. Allen is the opera director who is crazily inspired after meeting the gifted father of his daughter's Italian fiance, while visiting architect Alec Baldwin guides student Jesse Eisenberg through a tricky romantic situation. Elsewhere, Penelope Cruz's call girl puts a newlywed in a compromising position and local nobody Roberto Benigni suddenly finds himself a national media star. »

Breaking: Deadline broke separate stories about Emma Stone and Colin Firth being set for Woody Allen’s next pic. Now, the Woodman has confirmed the news, along with our revelation the film will be set in the South of France. If that part of France stirs Allen as much as did Paris in Midnight In Paris, we should be in for a treat. Here’s the official news: Woody Allen’s new, untitled comedy will star Colin Firth and Emma Stone. The Gravier Productions film is produced by Allen’s longtime associates, Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum. Set in the South of France, Allen will shoot the film this summer, once again collaborating with cinematographer Darius Khondji (Midnight In Paris, To Rome With Love), production designer Anne Seibel (Midnight In Paris, To Rome With Love) and costume designer Sonia Grande (Midnight In Paris, To Rome With Love and Vicky Cristina Barcelona »

There are worse jobs in the world than being an artist's muse. Sure, the job description is a little vague — be inspiring, possibly while also acting really mysterious — but on the other hand, you also get interesting benefits like becoming immortalized on film. Try getting that next time you interview to become a Wal-Mart greeter.
So yeah, being a muse is cool, which may explain why Coming Soon is reporting that Emma Stone is currently in talks to work alongside one of cinema's most legendary muse-icians, Woody Allen.
Allen, of course, has a long history of being inspired by muses. Diane Keaton is probably his most famous object of attention, having co-starred in Allen's two most acclaimed films, "Manhattan" and "Annie Hall," among others. But he's also made multiple films starring the likes of Mia Farrow (whom he famously married), Dianne Weist, Judy Davis and most recently Scarlett Johansson, who headlined "Scoop, »

Woody Allen has revealed that he always thinks of Scarlett Johansson when he is casting his movies.
Allen, who collaborated with Johansson on the movies Scoop, Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, told Marie Claire that he associates the actress with "everything good".
"I was enchanted with her the minute I met her, and I've never stopped," he said.
"She's great-looking, sexy, funny, a good dramatic actress, she can sing. I mean, she's got it all, really."
Allen added that he would like to work with Johansson again, saying: "I always said that I'm going to wind up like Erich von Stroheim in Sunset Boulevard. She was going to wind up the aged movie actress who everyone was in love with, and I was going to end up the director who once directed her, now her chauffeur.
"Any time I have an idea, if there's anything that she could play in it, »

There are stranger things in the world than Woody Allen keeping the plot to one of his films under lock and key, but there are few less sensible. It doesn't seem likely that there are hordes of people out there theorizing all the story points of one of Allen's generally wordy features. Sometimes the biggest surprise his films have to offer, such as with Scoop or You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, is how non-essential the critics and fans consider them. Thanks to Collider, the first image from Allen's next film Blue Jasmine has arrived, and while it.s a colorful image and all, it offers little to clue anyone in on the story, which has been described in a press release as .the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.. Take a look at the crisis-free image »

★★☆☆☆ Woody Allen continues his picture postcard Euro trawl with mixed results in To Rome with Love (2012), despite an admittedly gorgeous backdrop photographed by the great Darius Khondji, and the impressive array of acting talent at his disposal once more. Using the titular city to tell four unconnected vignettes of romantic mishaps and chance encounters, the film also marks the director's first time in front of the camera since 2006's woeful Scoop and, unsurprisingly, he gives himself the film's best lines as a retired avant-garde opera director who spots great potential in the funeral director father of his daughter's fiancée.

“This is the rise and fall season,” exec producer David Benioff shares. “There are so many characters who come into the season with power of some kind who lose everything, and other characters who enter with almost nothing and achieve great power.”

In To Rome With Love, Woody Allen’s most recent traveling roadshow in an iconic European locale, the director steps in front of the camera for the first time since 2006′s Scoop. He plays a retired music-recording exec who visits Rome with his wife (Judy Davis) to meet their daughter’s Italian fiancé, whose father just so happens to be an undiscovered opera virtuoso — as long as he performs in the shower. It’s one of four amusing story threads, but fans of Allen’s most memorable on-screen neurotics will be drawn to Jesse Eisenberg, who plays an American architectural »
