Geeks Vs Loneliness: living with Me & Cfs

Jane Roberts Oct 14, 2016

The impact of Me and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is seen, but rarely understood…

A warm welcome to Geeks Vs Loneliness, the area of the site where we try and natter about things that may be affecting you, or people around you. We're realistic: we have no miracle cures for anything here, but hopefully, there's a tip or two we can pass on that may help. That, or just a virtual hug from us to you.

This week, we're handing over to the brilliant Jane Roberts. Without further ado...

‘I touch the fire and it freezes me. I look into it and it’s black. Why can’t I feel? My skin should crack and peel. I want the fire back.’

- Buffy The Vampire Slayer – Walk Through the Fire

I remember when I first realised something was wrong. I found myself asleep on the desk, face cushioned by my history textbook. »

A geeky guide to TV musical episodes

Rob Leane Juliette Harrisson Oct 20, 2016

Here are ten of our favourite TV show forays into the world of musical theatre...

If you hadn’t already heard: The CW’s brightest and most jovial superhero shows, The Flash and Supergirl, are set to have a two-part musical episode special as part of the upcoming TV season. As if that isn’t exciting enough, the hot rumour is that Joss Whedon is ‘locked’ in as director. And, on top of that, the speculation mill suggests that Neil Patrick Harris could provide the villainy, reprising his terrific Music Meister performance from the animated series Batman: The Brave And The Bold.

Guitar Hero Live’s Shred-a-Thon Is Running For The Next Five Days

3 February 2016 2:13 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

A special five day marathon of guitar shredding tunes has been announced today, as Guitar Hero Live‘s Shred-a-Thon event goes live on Ghtv. The brand new event is bringing some of the toughest songs in Guitar Hero history back to the stage for players to attempt to remaster over the next few days.

The Shred-a-Thon playlist is set to include the following tracks on repeat:

DragonForce – Through the Fire and Flames

Alter Bridge – Cry of Achilles

Megadeth – Hangar 18

Lamb of God – Ghost Walking

Trivium – Strife

Once the event is over, Through the Fire and Flames will be joining the game’s regular track-list so the return of the iconic tune will be a far more longstanding one than previously expected. Every song in the Shred-a-Thon is also Rival Challenge-enabled, which means players have the option of competing against matchmade gamers in a head-to-head battle during each song.
