Father attempts to rescue his daughter from making a porn film
I was reminded of the movie "Hardcore" as I watched this, but this movie goes a quite different way into a movie mystery. It's not a bad movie, quite enjoyable actually. The resolution is a bit abrupt. The flashback structure at times seems unnecessary. A linear story might have been more involving, but I'm not sure.
The acting is really very good. The cast uniformly consists of professionals, each able to create a character. The script is a cut below their capabilities, not giving all of them enough to work with to bring out their characters fully. An exception is the part of Laurence Leboeuf. Her scenes convey very well a girl caught in her predicament. Her part makes the lead part of Karine Vanasse almost seem bland as well as inexplicable in motivation. The part of Karine's mother is under written but the actress Dominique Leduc just about compensates. Michel Cote has no problem as he has the central role of the distraught father attempting to rescue his daughter from making a porn film. The actors portraying those in the porn industry carry off their parts nicely, as does the detective.
This is a modest but reasonably entertaining film.
