Idi Amin gave himself the title "His Excellency President for Life Field Marshal Al Hadji Dr. Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular".

The "King of Scotland" was an unofficial title that Amin gave himself. He saw the Ugandans and the Scots as spiritual brothers, both struggling throughout history to throw off the yoke of English rule.

According to director Kevin Macdonald, Amin saw the Ugandans as the a Scots of Africa.

The film's depiction of the Entebbe Hijacking is different from the real event: in the film non-Israeli passengers are released while in reality only non-Jews were released. The film also avoids depicting the German hijackers who led the operation and gives the impression that the hijackers are purely Arab. {source : Wikipedia}
