Best recognized as a writer, Victor Levin has penned episodes for such popular television programs as the marriage-centered sitcom Mad About You and the 1960s set drama Mad Men, as well as scripted such charming movies as Win a Date With Tad Hamilton! and Then She Found Me. However, in 1999 he dabbled in directing, helming an ep of Mad About You along with a little known venture called The Successor. But his latest script, 5 to 7, has spurred his return to the director's chair, and has stirred up a fantastically promising cast. Mockingbird Pictures in conjunction with Demarest Films has unveiled a press release revealing six-time Oscar nominee Glenn Close (Albert Nobbs), Oscar nominee Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon), Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall), Lambert Wilson (Of Gods and Men) and Olivia Thirlby (Being Flynn) have joined Anton Yelchin for this New York-set romantic comedy. 5 to 7 stars Yelchin as a young, aspiring »

Admission Review

21 March 2013 1:39 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Paul Weitz is a director I have come to dread.  About a Boy was a long time ago, and in the interim he has done some truly abysmal films such as Cirque du Freak, American Dreamz, and Being Flynn (I didn't even bother with Little Fockers).  But after a 12-year-drought, Weitz has delivered a film that's almost as funny and sweet as About a Boy.  His new movie, Admission, is a playful, nice little story where leads Tina Fey and Paul Rudd have the room to exercise their comic and dramatic abilities, and do so with a charming screenplay from Karen Croner.  Even though it heads towards safe places, Admission never feels gratingly familiar. Portia Nathan (Fey) is an admissions officer at Princeton.  She's settled into a personal and professional malaise where she tolerates her occupation and lack of affection from her long-term boyfriend (Michael Sheen).  On a visit to the progressive Quest School, »

'Admission' review: Tina Fey and Paul Rudd lead likable comedy cast

21 March 2013 6:00 AM, PDT | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Tina Fey makes funny TV shows, funny movies and funny books.

Director Paul Weitz often goes for something beyond funny -- emotional stories of parents and children trying to puzzle out something beyond flesh and blood that bonds them.

She did "30 Rock" and "Date Night." He did "About a Boy" and "Being Flynn."

And somewhere on the uncertain ground between the two is "Admission." It's a romantic comedy -- of sorts -- about a lovelorn Princeton admissions officer forced to reconcile her judgmental job with the news that the baby she gave up for adoption 17 years ago might be applying to ... Princeton.

It's not a particularly satisfying comedy, but thanks to the cast and some of the odd directions it takes, "Admission" is an intensely likable one.

Portia (Fey) spends her days competing with Corinne (Gloria Reuben) to see who can be the snobbiest in front of the head of »

Director Paul Weitz on Tina Fey, the Mysteries of De Niro and the Next 'American Pie' Movie

27 February 2013 7:28 AM, PST | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Writer-director Paul Weitz has become synonymous with the coming-of-age film. He started off with a bang, so to speak, with his 1999 directorial debut, American Pie, and has gone on to become one of the most prolific directors and producers in Hollywood. In 2002, he directed About a Boy -- a film whose star, Nicholas Hoult, has been ubiquitous in the early months of this year -- and in 2012, Weitz released the Paul Dano-Robert De Niro indie, Being Flynn. His next project, out on Friday, is a small film with big stars. In Admission, Tina Fey stars
