I'll admit it's short on plot...but talk about historical value!
I recently saw this very short little film while visiting the German Film Museum in Frankfurt. It's very appropriate I saw it there, as it consists of Kaiser Wilhelm II and his cadre of soldiers and statesmen being recorded on film. They march past the camera...and that's really about it. Now before you think 'who cares?!', remember--this film is well over a hundred years old. Back in 1897, films did NOT have plots as we know it today but merely recorded mundane events. And, having the freaking Kaiser of Germany and his staff walking by certain is NOT mundane--making this very special and of great historical importance. So, while its current cinematic merits are dubious, thank goodness we have this sort of recording of our history.
