Patricia Meyer's THE LIST is a biting comedy/drama about the relationship between a young woman and her estranged father. Ashley Williams strikes all the right notes (sadness, resentment, anger and, finally acceptance) in the lead, with Corbin Berensen delivering one of his best turns as a former pro baseball superstar who spent his daughter's formative years partying instead of raising her.
When the young woman has a near-death experience, her father collects her from the hospital, and surprises her at his home with a gathering of all her ex-boyfriends, all of whose names he found on "the list" that was in the young woman's possessions. In forcing his daughter to come to terms with the men in her past, including him, and why the relationships all failed, father and daughter attempt some reconciliation of their own. It's a nice balance between bitter and sweet.
Supporting cast of men is fine also, with an absolutely delicious parody of the Hollywood agent from hell thrown into the mix! THE LIST is a little gem, one that's worth seeking out.
