First of all, why is everybody reviewing the movie on this page? This is the video game.
Anyway, I loved the film when I was a kid and I enjoyed this game when I was a kid. But the game wasn't well received.
As an adult, how do I like it? I still enjoy it. But it's not without it's flaws:
. The control is stiff. Trying to turn around is a bit of a nightmare. Also, when you go through a door, you sometimes get stuck on the sides of the door.
. Archer moves like he has something stuck up his ass.
. You only play two characters in the Multiplayer mode. It would've been nice if you played as the other Commandos and Gorgonites.
. There's only one boss and that's at the end.
. It's too easy. Now I know what you're thinking: Change the difficulty to hard.
But here's some of the things I liked:
. The score is fantastic. I love the tribal chants for the Gorgonites and the military themes for the Commandos.
. I liked the fact it doesn't follow the movie and has it's own story. What if the characters weren't toys and they were actual beings. That would make a great movie. Maybe in the future, Dreamworks could make a movie based on this game.
. The level design is nice.
It's not the greatest game in the world, but it's not as terrible as people make it out to be. Maybe if the controls were better, maybe if more creative ideas were added and maybe a chance to play all the characters in Multiplayer mode. It's not as good as Small Soldiers: Squad Commander. Worth playing for the score, though.
