DVR ratings: 'The Big Bang Theory' is approaching 'Friends' territory

31 December 2012 1:12 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

It's no secret that "The Big Bang Theory" is having a fantastic year in the ratings. The show is ranked third in all of television in viewers, and second on the broadcast networks in adults 18-49.

The latest DVR ratings, though, highlight something pretty amazing: "The Big Bang Theory" could very well have the most-watched season of a half-hour comedy since "Friends" went off the air in 2004.

First-run episodes of the CBS show are averaging 20.3 million viewers this season in Nielsen's Live +7 ratings, along with a 7.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic. For the season as a whole (including repeats), "Bbt" clocks in at 19.05 million viewers and 6.5 in the 18-49 demo.

It trails only "NCIS" (21.2 million) and "Sunday Night Football" (20.9 million) in viewers, and it's second to "Snf" (8.0) among the under-50 crowd. It doesn't gain quite as much in the Live +7 ratings as ABC's »

The Eye scored a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 to lead the demographic race. NBC's 1.1 was good for second, while ABC was third at 1.0. Fox posted a 0.7 and The CW a 0.4.

'X-Factor' performance finale tops Wednesday

20 December 2012 9:07 AM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Fox’s X-Factor performance finale led Wednesday night in the ratings, though slipped 18 percent from last year’s similar episode.

Simon Cowell’s singing competition series was seen by 8.3 million viewers and had a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating. That’s soft considering the show’s overall importance to the network and that it faced a weak playing field filled with repeats. Still, a win’s a win.

Over on NBC, the 61st Annual Miss Universe Pageant was up 13 percent from last year, while Chicago Fire jumped 36 percent from last week’s season low to top 10 p.m. (CSI was a repeat, »

'Criminal Minds': Penelope Garcia's one-of-a-kind sweaters and giving a nod to fans

19 December 2012 1:00 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

It's safe to say that no one on TV or in reality has a sweater collection like Penelope Garcia's (Kirsten Vangsness) on CBS' "Criminal Minds," thanks to the creativity of costume designer Bj Rogers.

"I make a lot of her sweaters," Rogers tells Zap2it. "I kind of do them theme-oriented, and a lot of times I will make them to go with what she is wearing. ... For Dr. Reed's birthday, I did a theme sweater. I made a cake on the back of it and on the front I made my Yorkie and put a gold frame around it. A lot of time I use earrings as broaches on her sweaters. I have fun with her sweaters. She says people tweet about them all the time asking where she gets them."

Garcia isn't your typical FBI agent, and her unique look helps set the show apart from others of its kind. »
