Register inks first-look deal at Cartoon Net

Veteran animation executive Sam Register has signed a first-look deal with Cartoon Network to develop programming for the cable channel.

The deal encompasses both kids' and adult programming that could end up on Cartoon Network or sister channel Adult Swim.

Register most recently was senior vp development at Cartoon Network, where he was responsible for overseeing the development and production of original, action-oriented animated programming. Projects included the series Ben 10, My Gym Partner Is a Monkey, PPGZ and Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi as well as the Warner Bros. series Teen Titans, The Justice League Unlimited, Batman and Duck Dodgers.

"Sam brings a talent and vision to the world of animation and programming that fits our sensibilities perfectly," Cartoon Network executive vp and general manager Jim Samples said. "He has a successful and proven track record with Cartoon Network as a development executive."

Register also has served as the network's senior vp content development, working to develop new programming and feature films around third-party assets based on action, adventure and existing entertainment properties. »
