Storyline

One day, Horton the elephant hears a cry from help coming from a speck of dust. Even though he can't see anyone on the speck, he decides to help it. As it turns out, the speck of dust is home to the Whos, who live in their city of Whoville. Horton agrees to help protect the Whos and their home, but this gives him nothing but torment from his neighbors, who refuse to believe that anything could survive on the speck. Still, Horton stands by the motto that, "After all, a person is a person, no matter how small." Written by Griffin84

Trivia

The Mayor receives a goldfish in a fishbowl from a Who who looks remarkably like the Cat In The Hat (he is only seen twice, briefly - once from behind, and later from a distance - and his hat has blue stripes instead of red). Later, just before the first attack by Vlad, the Mayor is resuscitating the fish. When the fish lands back in his bowl, he leans on the side of the bowl just like the goldfish in The Cat In The Hat. Goofs

The mayor explains to his son that the family has been in Whoville for centuries. A few scenes later we learn that the city is planning their centennial. Actually they are celebrating their one hundred years of happiness and peace, so his family could have been there for centuries. See more »

Hilarious!!!!
14 March 2008 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I went and saw this movie with my high school drama group, we had recently done Suessical for a school musical and I played the Mayor of Whoville, and I enjoyed the whole thing from start to finish. The cast of this film did an outstanding job with the voices of the characters, Jim Carrey is most notable in my opinion. Steve Carell also did an amazing job as the Mayor of Whoville. It also has good, clean humor that is both funny and suitable for all ages. I laughed through nearly 90% of the film and I didn't see one thing that would be deemed inappropriate for someone young. This movie lives up to the legacy of the book and I don't care what age you are, you will laugh out loud and enjoy this hilarious Dr. Seuss movie.
