It took me a while to get it, but filmmaker Jim Enright and his scriptwriter George Kaplan concocted this porn vehicle for beauteous Devinn Lane as a tribute to Jerry Lewis's classic 1960 film "The Bellboy". Adult Entertainment is overrun with horrible ripoffs passed off as "parodies", but this is a winning, heartfelt homage instead.
Like Jerry, Devinn the bellhop doesn't speak (until 3 words at the end of the video), but is left in charge of a small hotel on New Year's Eve. She not only mans the front desk and takes guests (and luggage) to their rooms, but has to deal with any and all requests including room service, or in one case a need for condoms (recall that Wicked Pictures is a safe-sex label).
Devinn's comic timing and pantomime (she even remains silent answering phone calls) is delightful and evidence that however successful she was in her XXX career she deserved a shot at the mainstream. Even Jerry himself could have benefited by casting her in a Joan O'Brien or Marie McDonald zoftig role.
The antics of the guests are kept light and fun, but with some highly erotic content as well. A bachelorette party of three ultra-busty lesbians becomes a terrific orgy when they invite Devinn to dance for them and worship her body in bed as well.
Other highlights include a running gag of a passed-out nude girl tossed by Devinn (cleaning up the room) into a hamper to lug around in slapstick "Weekend at Bernie's" corpse manner, plus a sexy interracial couple expertly played by Dee and Randy Spears. Gauge and Joel Lawrence do a fine job in a segment right out of the old "Love - American Style" TV show as a couple dating for a year who decide to go all the way on New Year's.
Keeping up the peppy atmosphere is an upbeat lounge music score that approximates the mood of that Muzak so skilfully used (as counterpoint) on the SyFy series "Helix". This 2-day wonder is refreshing and proves once again that talent and a desire to create something positive and entertaining is what the Adult Industry should aspire to.
