Trivia

The film's prologue is a direct parody of Frankenstein (1931), where Edward Van Sloan makes an uncredited appearance as himself in order to warn audiences of what follows. Ted Riley, the disembodied narrator of The Weird World of Mushroom Madness, also appeared in the satirical prologue. See more »

Brilliant!

The first time I saw this movie I almost had a flashback! The short is well cast, well filmed, well written and well directed. The Weird World of Mushroom Madness captures the cautionary tale feel of old educational films, tongue in cheek, with a Grimms fairy tale twist of horror.

From the beginning of the film, a narrator warns that "What you see may shock you", when really the viewer is to be treated to stereotypical stoners verbalizing stereotypical stoner half-truths and greedy hippies willing to construct an elaborate plot to seduce a straight-laced college student just to make a few bucks and get him "addicted" to mushrooms. The hippy plot goes terribly awry.

A must see! When does the DVD hit the shelves?
