I didn't find this to be furthering or promoting any negative opinion of any culture at all. Every family has quirky people in it. The "quirkies" in this film weren't vulgar, hostile or violent. The family has to be something, "Caucasian", "Black", "Hispanic", etc.
It was a warm and funny story. The pieces about Fabio and the "pen" in Yvonne's bed were funny. The acting was good. Chang was believable, likable, and not the least bit neurotic.
I especially liked the focus on the one family. There weren't the endless, stumbling, late night phone calls between the couple that we so often see and hear in other movies.
