For those who missed it , Stacked is great fun, if a bit racy, at moments
inkblot1116 February 2012
Skylar (Pamela Anderson) goes into a San Fran area bookstore called Stacks one fine day. She needs a book on relationships NOW. Very eager to help is one of the co-owners, Stuart (Brian Scolaro), who is please as punch to have such a stunning female in the place. His brother, fellow owner Gavin (Elon Gold) is less certain, being more cerebral. In fact, Gavin, who is a not-so-successful published author, has been trying to get back with his wife, although the divorce came through two years ago. Therefore, when the ex comes in the door, he begs Skylar to pretend to be his new galpal. She agrees, even though she thinks Gavin is a pain, having recommended a haughty, very long psych book to her. Soon, the ex may indeed be changing her attitude toward Gav while Stuart just wants to hear about Skylar's past. In fact, bolstered by the advice from a self-help book, Skylar decides to summon her cheating boyfriend to the place and call it quits in front of the world! Fun times, are ahead, especially when Stuart urges Skylar to join the staff. After all, she is already charming customers, like the retired professor (Christopher Lloyd) who visits daily. The lovely lady agrees. With this new twist at Stacks, what other entertaining events are ahead for the gang? Lots! This fun show, albeit a bit racy, was once on Fox, for a season or two. For those who missed it, like me, shame, shame. Its quite enjoyable. Anderson's sweet voice and knockout looks are most welcome while Gold and especially Scolaro are a stitch. Lloyd, too, is a treasure and so is the woman who plays the barista. Of course, not many books get sold in each episode but with nice costumes, sets, plots, humor, and great timing, Stacked stacks up well for an evening's pleasure. Make that multiple evenings, dear viewers.

the network should've gave this show a chance; as it wasn't bad
wchngliu25 June 2007
I saw two episodes of Stacked and I thought it wasn't too bad. it wasn't great, but it wasn't as terrible as others have made out. I am still baffled as to why Stacked had only lasted two seasons. okay, it wasn't laugh out loud funny, but some of the episodes cracked me up. it was MUCH better than that dross known as Courting Alex. Pamela Anderson did okay and i do feel as if in a sitcom, this is the ideal TV genre for her to demonstrate her comic potential. I thought Christopher Lloyd was funny and it was great to see him on the small screen, yet again, since his supporting role on Taxi.

It's such a shame the network decided to cancel Stacked after two seasons, which was and is daft because it was one of the few shows, which was funny and yet still you see on TV sitcoms, which aren't funny but last more than 1, 2 even 7 or 8 seasons. It is sad to see a sitcom, as funny as this being treated and unappreciated as Stacked is by the network.

In all, it was okay- it was nothing special but it wasn't by no means total crap ,as i would have liked to have seen 2 more seasons of this show.

Whaa...? That *doesn't* refer to books?
TBJCSKCNRRQTreviews21 December 2009
The main reason I watched this was because Steven Levitan created it... well, OK, but that was in the Top 2. Seriously though, I love Just Shoot Me, its snark(the best of it delivered by David Spade), its raunchy material and the satire. I hoped that this would be the same. Well, two out of three ain't bad, I guess. With Anderson in the lead, a fact that probably made this show, and then preceded to break it, this got about 18 episodes, so in spite of being listed as two seasons, it's really more like one... and one that is about three fourths long, at that. The concept itself isn't half bad. It takes place in a store for literary works, run by two dorky brothers, one of whom is an unsuccessful writer. Add to that a disgruntled coffee girl, her regular customer(who has retired from a position at NASA, as an expert on physics), and, of course, Pam, whose... ahem... attributes are the focus of the series(so much so that they put it in the title). That makes for a full regular cast. These characters are actually decent enough, and their relative diversity allows for the jokes and gags(most of which work, some do fall flat) to draw inspiration from many different areas. The group(with the one exception we all know about) can act well enough, and the comic timing is pretty good. Lloyd seems nearly incapable of disappointing. The guest stars are fine, and there are a few recognizable faces(meanwhile, does every female that Skylar knows have to be attractive and easy? OK, I know those words are illegal to speak for all us straight men, still, seriously, it doesn't keep being funny). At its best, the humor is hilarious, and there are quotable lines here and there. I recommend this to fans of sit-coms, and/or those who appear in this. 7/10

If you get over your bias, you'll love this show
csobero8 December 2005
I'm the kind of person who likes strong ensemble comedies with wit and the occasional farce, like "Frasier", "Taxi", "Seinfeld", "Everybody Loves Raymond", etc.. So when I heard about "Stacked", I had my doubts as to how funny it could be. Pamela Anderson...is it possible for her to be intentionally funny? I figured I would watch the first episode if, for nothing else, to see the genius of Christopher Lloyd and the spunk of Marissa Jaret Winokur. They did not disappoint, and the show had me laughing out loud in bits where those actors weren't even present.

Basically, this is a surprisingly smart show. Anderson has the ability to poke fun at herself and not take everything so seriously. She knows she's not Olivier, and she doesn't try to be something she isn't. Maybe that's why I found the character so endearing. Winokur has great delivery, and a gift for physical comedy. Scolaro and Gold are deft comedians, who know how to wring the humor out of their lines and expressions. Lloyd is great and proves he can still make you laugh without even opening his mouth. His slightly grumpy retired physicist character is the perfect foil to everyone else.

If you come into watching this show with an open mind, you'll like it. If you come into it with a hatred for all things Pamela Anderson, you could easily find yourself surprised at her charm and the wit of the show. If your head is so far stuck up your butt in your prejudices, then you wouldn't like this, even if it were Oilivier performing "Hamlet". Bottom line: this show is a lot better than the unfunny formula comedies littering the airwaves right now ("Joey", "Freddie", basically anything where the title is someone's name) and has a strong cast, solid acting, witty writing and the potential to be a great show.

funny and more potential
xan008 January 2006
Hearing the title of the show "Stacked" and then hearing that Pamela Anderson was starring in it i thought this show would be terrible. However being one that enjoy's sitcoms i thought i'd give this one ago. Surprisingly it is quite a good show, it took me a couple of shows to warm to it. At the beginning i thought, yes this is an alright show. So thinking it had potential continued watching it and a few shows into the series came a show that had me laughing out loud hilariously through the whole episode, like other sitcoms that i've enjoyed.

Skylar (pamela Anderson) plays a lady who is trying to make her life more steady and less wild, Gavin (elon gold) the owner of the store who clashes with Skylar, Stuart (Brian Scolaro) desperately wants Skylar, Katrina (Marissa Jaret Winokur) tends to have the witty comments and acts like a sound bored for Skylar and Harold (Christopher Lloyd) the regular customer who sits and reads his paper, drinks his coffee and is the wise old man with the voice of reason. The banter of the brothers, the clash of Skylar and Gavin, the chasing of Skylar by Stuart, straight up humour of Katrina and the perspective of the retired scientist make this show an interesting combination of personalities and a great base for a comedy show. Being set in a book store i never expected such a setting to be able to create such a funny dialogue/characters. My first thought is that this show reminds me a lot of "Just Shoot Me". "Just Shoot Me" is one of my favourtie sitcoms and "Stacked" i believe has the potential to be a really good sitcom, it's certainly one of the better one's to recently come out.

Even worse than I thought...
Asteri-Atypical23 April 2005
I didn't expect much from this show. I went in with an open mind, hoping for the best but expecting mediocrity.

But - oh GEEZ... this was worse than I expected. During the very first minutes I was accosted with one of my pet peeves pertaining to sitcoms; the canned laughter at minutia. The laugh track was obnoxiously loud and incessant. The smallest, most mundane attempt and humour would result in uproarious laughter from the laugh track. Most of those quips just weren't that funny! Are we so slow of wit that we must be told when to laugh? Have we come to the point where we are expected to parrot laughter simply because we have it blasted at us? Anyway... moving past that particular tirade...

I didn't find much which was clever in this show. This goes for the humour, characters, plot and situations. Without doubt, the best aspect was Christopher Lloyd. He is a joy to watch, even in drivel like this show. It's a shame his character isn't worthy of his apt portrayal. I appreciate Anderson's willingness to not take herself too seriously in this role. However; a willingness to poke fun at one's self does not a show make. I've never seen much appeal to Pamela Anderson anyway; I feel I could get better eye candy and acting talent at the neighborhood Hooter's (and at least there one has the benefit of noshing on greasy wings at the same time) All in all, it was not clever, original or funny enough for me to suggest anyone watch it. While some shows have a niche appeal, I don't see it for this one. Unless they pull a rabbit out of the hat and instill some unexpected quality to this show, it will be a pointless endeavor.

What scares me is that the show might actually survive (shudder)

Don't fool yourself: the show is about the title
sarastro720 April 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I've read through the user comments about this show, and I'm amazed about people's vanity. Everybody talks about the story, the characters, the merit of the jokes, how lame the show is, how smart the show is... COME ON, people! This show has two stars, and they're hanging on Pammy's chest!

Let's not kid ourselves. The show is called "Stacked" and it surely is one of the most aptly titled shows in history. We've all seen Pamela Anderson naked, but she *still* manages to make us drop our jaws to the floor with the mega-melons she's sporting here! Which man can take his eyes off of THAT? Then you can admit it or not.

This is not Pamela carrying a show - this is Pamela's breasts carrying a show. And in all their artificial firmness, they pull it off!

OK, I'm done. I'll rate the show a six because, well, because of the obvious.

It's watchable, it's in fairly good taste, it's got Christopher Lloyd - and those are just the extras!

This is a show about BREASTS, and, y'know... it's not such a bad idea! More power to 'em!

not the worst but...
SnoopyStyle14 January 2017
Gavin P. Miller (Elon Gold) and Stuart Miller (Brian Scolaro) are brothers running a small bookstore. Gavin's book was a failure. Katrina (Marissa Jaret Winokur) is their coffee girl. Retired rocket scientist Professor Harold March (Christopher Lloyd) is a regular customer. One day, Skyler Dayton (Pamela Anderson) walks into the store. She's tired of her sex-filled broken relationships with bad boys. Gavin recruits Skyler to be his pretend girlfriend to make his ex-wife Charlotte jealous. To escape the temptations of hot guys, Skyler hires herself to work under the Miller brothers.

This Pamela Anderson TV vehicle is able to show that she has workable charisma besides her ample bosoms and good looks. She holds her own delivering the hackney jokes and her character has good heart. Some of it is almost funny and Winokur is good at playing off of Anderson. The cast includes some functional TV actors and one bonafide legend. The situation is utterly manufactured. This is not the worst thing but I am surprised that it got two seasons on network TV. I guess the 5-episodes replacement first season worked just well enough to get a renewal. It's simply not good enough to keep going.

Real Sit-Com Entertainment
jtighe-611 March 2010
Pamela Anderson hits a home run with this show. She is very comfortable as this character, and this ensemble works perfectly together along with consistent writing. A very simple set-up, using almost exclusively one setting, dialog is fresh and funny without being busy or repetitive. All characters are well-played by confident staff. This is a quintessential example of a situation-comedy: not preachy, not pushy, not offensive, and not boring. Unusually fresh and relaxed, it is a pleasure and true enjoyment to watch. Too bad people will remember Anderson for 2nd rate products like "VIP", and a shining performance like this goes largely unknown.

So bad you'll lose the will to live
Elori17 October 2006
When I learned that 'Stacked' featured Christopher Lloyd, known best for his fantastic performance as 'Doc' Emmett Brown from the Back to the Future trilogy, I was astounded. When I learned of what an absolute wreck of a sitcom he had sold himself off into, I was even more astounded.

In this age of series like 'My Name is Earl' and 'Office', sitcoms like 'Stacked' shouldn't happen. It is no wonder it was cancelled, because even for a sitcom, the writing was so horribly clichéd and anemic that even an actor like Christopher Lloyd couldn't save the jokes and his character. And yet, he was a more of a side character compared to Pamela Anderson's Skyler, who I'm guessing the horrible pun of a title refers to. And really, just the name, 'Stacked', tells everything you need to know about this show. The setting was good, and with a supporting actor like Lloyd, it could have turned into something fantastic, but this is just a horrible misuse of that potential, a depressing fest of tripe and shame.

Excellent, Consistent Sit-Com - Way Better Than I Expected!
JazB22 June 2006
When I first saw "Stacked" advertised, I thought, "oh no, not another average sit-com based around a once famous personality" (Cybil, Jenny, Fat Actress, The Comeback etc etc). But this was different. For once, the main personality in the show, in this case Pamela Anderson, was an asset and not a hindrance. Her character and her performance fit in with the other characters, instead of the other characters revolving around the "most famous" person on the show.

Another good thing about Stacked is its consistency. It reminds me of Cheers in its heyday; consistently funny with solid characters. Unlike the very excellent 'My Name is Earl', which varies wildly from week to week as to how the characters behave, Stacked is much more solid and satisfying, because of this. It's also pretty unique to see something so well crafted in this day and age.

The entire cast is brilliant. I wasn't immediately enamored with the casting of the two brothers who run the store, but I soon warmed to their characters. Christopher Lloyd is absolutely on form, delivering his lines with the comedy precision of a master, knowing how to make one line turn from a chuckle into a gut-laugh. Even Pamela Anderson, not known for comedy talent, has a character which fits her personality perfectly, while allowing her to drop some great lines and still seem like the same person.

Every character in this sit-com feels "right" and you can only imagine the amount of time and effort that must have gone into making this happen.

Stacked is never mean-spirited, overly cynical or even topical, it's just brilliantly crafted, constistently funny, top-quality entertainment. It echoes Cheers in its heyday - whatever happened to shows like this? I hope Stacked finds its audience and remains as good as the first season, and then keeps running for years to come! It deserves to!

Dumb Comedy
mdpomroy20 March 2007
Unless you have a copy of the home video she made with husband Tommy Lee, this marks the return to the small screen for Pamela Anderson following her Baywatch adventures. In Stacked she plays Skyler Dayton, a bookstore employee. Skyler is tired of her non-stop partying lifestyle and bad choices in boyfriends, so wanting a major life change; she wanders into The Stacks, a small family-run bookstore. Yes, it's hard to imagine her working as a bookstore assistant offering opinions on the latest literature and classic novels, but then the kooky Ellen DeGeneres did pull off a comedy set in a bookstore in the mid '90s. Stacked, however, can't match up to Ellen, which itself was nothing spectacular. The jokes here are so bawdy and obvious you half expect to see Sid James pop up let out a burst of his famous cackle every time someone delivers a punchline, but then did you really expect subtle jokes from a comedy that stars a women who made her fortune by looking great in a swimsuit? In one later episode Skyler, wearing a designer minidress, drops a muffin on her lap and screams, 'I've got blueberry all over my Pucci!' Her co-worker replies, 'what do you expect with a dress that short?' Fnarrr and, indeed, fnarrr. The jokes are so lowbrow they're almost in her cleavage, but if you're a fan of plastic Pammy or the Carry On films then you may want to tune in.

Funny show!
arneolaf19 December 2005
I think people should give this show a chance, because it's really funny! The show contains a great combination of funny characters, who you learn to know very quickly. Pamela Anderson also plays pretty good as Skyler Dayton, this blonde party girl who suddenly starts working at a book store, from what she has very little experience. Of course a lot of people think that this is just a shallow sitcom men watch just to see Pamela Anderson, but it has so much more.

It's like a combination of Cheers, "Step by Step", Becker and "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place". Pamela's role reminds a little of Suzanne Somers when she plays the mom in "Step by step", Christopher Lloyd who plays Harold, the bitter older man who's there always, got the attitude of Becker, and the brothers are a little like the two guys in "Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place". They are brothers, but they are very different from each other and not exactly best friends. The whole atmosphere is a little like the atmosphere in Cheers. It also has some things in common with "Friends", like when they are slandering the funny customers in the store, and sometimes even dating them.

Not a funny comedy.
rowie_star19 October 2006
A rather boring 30 minutes, I am sure that this type of comedy has been done before. Pamela Anderson really needs to give up on television and grow some hips before she falls over. I found all the characters to be annoying and this show to contain episode story lines that have been seen before. However, if you need to watch a show without having to think then this is perfect. Do not watch if there is something you need to get off of your mind. The bookstore coffee shop has a very similar look to the coffee shop from friends. How old is Pamela Anderson now anyway and why does she talk like a 15 year old. I see that this show has lasted 2 seasons, pretty good effort for the show I think.

unfunny and pointless
kclambeth30 April 2007
i knew this would never be anything like the good sitcoms like Frasier or Scrubs but i at least thought it may have a few laughs, but it doesn't.

Pamela Anderson, makes fun out of herself, Christopher Lloyd is a fantastic actor (His character is okay) but basically the premise of the show is obvious- Pamela Anderson's assets (that's not her acting and personality) every scene was littered with references to her breasts and the whole idea of watching two book shop owners talk about sleeping with her, is cringe worthy.

The characters have no depth, Katrina is just used so Skyler can look even better and make 'plainer' girls feel that life is crap, Gavin and Stuart are adolescents in grown up bodies and Christopher Lloyd is out of place.

Everything is 2 dimensional, loud, ignorant and superficial, everyone freely shouts about their sex life to a crowded bookstore and the acting is mediocre.

The only good bit is the idea of a bookstore and using chapters as a scene opener, they should never make anything like this again, i tried watching it again recently, to give it another chance, but i didn't laugh once and felt my I.q plummet considerably, i know you could say it's just a bit of fun, but if it is, why aren't i laughing?

What a hidden gem. Too bad it was cancelled.
mloofb5 January 2020
I came across this 12-years after cancellation due to a suggestion on HULU. What an awesome show that I had never heard of before. When I did more research on it, I had found it was cancelled after 2 short seasons over 10-years ago. Too bad. At least it's bingeable because it's over so fast, but it left me wanting more.

Lloyd plays his typical spacey character. I was surprisingly delighted by Anderson's performance and it's too bad she didn't go on to do more regular sitcoms.

Stacked
studioAT10 July 2022
It's very easy to write this show off and say it failed because its main source of comedy was jokes about Anderson's chest.

The real reason, as with any comedy, is that it wasn't consistently funny enough. And this is despite have a dream writing team in place, many of whom had worked on 'Frasier' and would go onto work on 'Modern Family'.

It has its moments, but just didn't click.

The Best of Luck to this show!
Sylviastel21 April 2005
Pamela Anderson is a Fox sitcom. I know it is hard to believe but she is actually very good in this show. She pokes fun at herself. This show has a great, talented cast like Tony award winning Marissa Jaret Winokur who won her Tony for playing Ricki Lake's role in the Broadway musical, Hairspray. Of course, Christopher Lloyd plays a retired professor who frequently visits the bookstore as his second home. Think of Norm at Cheers. Christopher Lloyd is always welcome anywhere. The show, Stacked, is set in a bookstore starring Pamela Anderson who plays pretty much herself who wants to change her life. Of course, being so beautiful, she reminds the group of their own insecurities and desires. Of course, Marissa who plays Katrina cannot help but envy Pamela Anderson. She jokes "Even I want a piece of that." The customers do not seem to mind their car getting towed if they get served by Skyler, Pamela's character. Pamela's Skyler adds much needed excitement and diversity to this much need bookstore, Stacked. After all the owner jokes "It's not Hooters, it's Stacked!" Please watch this show! Even if your not a fan of Pamela Anderson or if you are. Show your support! She just surprises you.

I'm worried it may be canceled already
knifeintheeye8 March 2006
It's been over a month since I've seen any sign of this show on TV. I hate to think FOX canceled it like they did with Greg The Bunny, Andy Richter Controls the Universe and a host of other funny shows I've enjoyed over the years. Even reruns of Stacked would be nice! I had ZERO expectations about Stacked when it first aired. I actually taped it by accident and was bored, so I watched it. It was funny in all the right ways. Warm fuzzy, brain candy funny. A great cast of characters (I love the chubby brother, he's awesome!) and good engaging story lines.

I just pray it hasn't been canceled.

Heard bad stuff but checked it out and it is hilarious
SonicStuart25 July 2005
A lot of people told me how stupid this show was going to be but when I decided to watch it, I was laughing my ass off! Pamela Anderson stars in her 4th TV-series as Skyler Dayton who starts a new life as an employee at a bookstore called "Stacks" and gives up being a party girl and making bad choices in boyfriends and that sort of stuff. "Stacks" is owned by Gavin Dewitt (Tom Everett Scott) and his brother, Stuart (Brian Scolaro). Divorced and unlucky in love himself, Gavin's inclined to regard Skyler as an embodiment of the vacuous, image-obsessed culture he has come to abhor. Stuart, however, is dazzled by Skyler's beauty and, much to Gavin's horror, offers her a job at their store, which she happily accepts as the first step in her quest for a steadier lifestyle. Unhappy that she's going to be minding the till next to such an intimidating bombshell is the store's sole other employee, Katrina (Marissa Jaret Winokur), who doles out doses of realism and cynicism. Rounding out the characters is the store's one steady customer, Harold March (Christopher Lloyd) a preeminent but retired rocket scientist. But I was laughing my ass off when I watched this series! I think this show could be the next "Just Shoot Me" or some other workplace sitcom series that is famous and funny. This show premiered on FOX back in April 2005.

better than expected
kingphilip28 April 2005
if you have ever seen pam anderson act or seen "VIP", you probably didn't expect much, however there's not a whole lot of comedy shows left since the onslaught of reality shows, so i decided to watch this show and see if it was any good. i was pleasantly surprised. i found it charming, funny and witty.

pamela plays a party girl at a crossroads in her life, takes a left turn and ends up at a quaint bookstore run by two brothers. her character's insight into life ends up superseding her supposed ditziness, usually playing foil to the the male characters straight-laced, narrow vision and lack of experience.

some may feel the laugh-track overbearing, but that's like saying her boobs get in the way of the humor. it just doesn't. finally, the writing really deserves some applause. with fresh, sharp writing, a popular lead and a solid cast, this show should do well. i hope both the audience and the network gives this show a chance

Good for some belly laughs
hollywoodshack29 March 2010
No surviving playmate centerfold has done more to ruin her career than Pamela Anderson. I hated Baywatch. Then there was the movie flop, Barbwire, where she was the female action hero who tortured evildoers with electrical shock. The booze, the drugs, and abusive Tommy Lee have made this 38 year old star of the show look a lot older than she is. But the show itself is stacked with glib, sophisticated writing of Murphy Brown caliber. It was a surprise that deserved to stay on TV more than a few seasons. But instead, it joined the ranks of popular show cancellations like Star Trek and Twin Peaks. Two stars under ten for aging Pamela as the cute blonde bimbo. There's just too much eye shadow and wrinkles on her face for the part. Give me a youthful pictorial of her to watch instead of this any day.

Underrated
davesigmachi27 September 2019
Really underrated show, I didn't give it a chance back in the day and randomly turned on an episode streaming a few days ago. Not ground breaking or elite, but worthwhile and enjoyable. Just as good as many series that got 5-6 seasons, even if a bit formulaic. Has a lot of really great comedians and talents guest star. When folks from other indie hits (like Arested Development, Episodes, Waiting, and many others) are involved, it's probably pretty good. Writing is exceptional, acting is acceptable.

Surprisingly good star vehicle for surprisingly good star
jessieswift2 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
OK, I just started watching this show on Paramount Comedy in the UK and it's surprisingly good. Obviously billed as a vehicle for Pamela Anderson but the real attraction here is Christopher "Doc" Lloyd, a man who's style of hilariously hammy overacting means he's only capable of playing mental patients, cartoon characters and mad scientists. Given that, it was only a matter of time before he ended up in that most wildly overacted of things, the American sitcom. Naturally, Lloyd is most entertaining as a slightly sulky former scientist who practically lives in the book store of the title (a title who's cheap pun does not promise much from the standard of humour on show). However, what really surprises is that Pammie is a shockingly adept comic performer. I mean, she's no great actress and she'll never be the most hilarious comedian, but she has a certain charm and willing to poke fun at herself and her image that makes her performance in this show both likable and enjoyable. Fans of the busty star and her ilk will be pleased by guest appearances by the likes of Jenny McCarthy and Carmen Electra, however their performances mostly just go to show how actually good Pamela is in comparison. Overall, this is a standard, slightly clichéd sitcom with much big, gurning acting and a rather excessive laughter track. Still, while not actually being enormously funny, it does manage to hold the interest, and not just because of the compelling strangeness of Pammie's breasts. If you just chance to come upon it, you'll probably find yourself losing yourself in half an hour of the charming if lightweight adventures of this bookstore.
