Minka Kelly, Leighton Meester in The Roommate. Pray for Late Night Pillow Fights.

8 May 2009 8:13 AM, PDT | Beyond Hollywood | See recent Beyond Hollywood news »

It’s basically a 20-something version of 1992’s “Single White Female”, though most of the kids who will be seeing this thing probably have never even heard of “Single White Female”, or seen its lackluster direct-to-dvd sequel, “Single White Female 2: The Psycho” (the title of which, if you’ve seen the franchise, is sorta redundant, but I digress). The 2009 version will be set in college, and is being described as a psychological thriller that will star Leighton Meester (of Gossip Girl fame) as an insane college co-ed who becomes obsessed with her roommate, played by Minka Kelly (of Friday Night Lights fame). Christian E. Christiansen will direct for Screen Gems. THR says the film will also star Aly Michalka, Matt Lanter, and Cam Gigandet. Michalka will play an outgoing dormmate determined to give Sara (Kelly’s character) a social life, while Lanter (of the new 90210 fame) will play Sara’s ex-boyfriend. »
