Lapel's latest...
15 April 2008 | by (USA) – See all my reviews

Sergio Lapel is sui generis. At times, he is articulate to the point of being non-stop: just ask him a question and then sit back and enjoy. He can discourse for hours (or what seems like hours, anyway), and his true passion is clearly for the making of movies- which he does remarkably well, from time to time. He has proved himself to be an insightful writer and a genuinely talented director. From time to time. And, even when things don't quite work out as well as one might've hoped, there's still something to be gleaned from the experience (for both Lapel and his audience). He's not afraid to let the success of a movie rest squarely on the shoulders of his players. Win or lose, that's not a bad film-making philosophy (in my book).
