If You Don’t, I Will | DVD Review

For her fifth feature, If You Don’t, I Will, director Sophie Fillieres reunites with star Emmanuelle Devos to document the wistful disintegration of a relationship that probably should have ended years prior. Premiering at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival, the title received a very limited theatrical engagement in New York at the end of the year, which is a pity considering the attraction of its two lead performers. At times droll in its routine procedure of two beings unwisely torturing one another for the sake of familiarity, Fillieres dips the film into more emotionally evasive territories in its second half that maintains a dark, comedic edge even as it grapples with examining the self-made traps people back themselves into.

Pomme (Devos) and Pierre (Mathieu Amalric) have been together for fifteen years, now alone after their son Romain (Nelson Delapalme) has left for college. We see them engaged in bitter resentment from the start,

Rupert Grint leaves Ron Weasley behind in Into the White trailer

Harry Potter’s best friend, Ron Weasley, could use a little magical assistance these days because Rupert Grint is having a rough time in the new trailer for Into the White.

Unfortunately (in a sense) for the three leads in the Harry Potter franchise, the movie series about the boy who lived catapulted Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint into the spotlight in a major way during their childhood years, making a large part of society forever see them as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.

Now that the Potter storyline has wrapped up, the three stars have set off to see if there’s a career beyond Hogwarts. Radcliffe discovered the easiest way to distance himself from the boy with the lightning-shaped scar was to get on a Broadway stage and take his clothes off, and roles in The Woman in Black and the upcoming Horns seems

Harry Potter's Rupert Grint Is All Grown Up In Into The White Trailer

As the Harry Potter franchise drew to a close, its three young stars were striving to pave a way out of being forever typecast as Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Daniel Radcliffe did this by taking daring roles on Broadway, showing his singing chops and, well, more. Then he proved to be a box office draw with 2012's The Woman in Black. For her part, Emma Watson blossomed into a fashion icon and branched out into period dramas with My Week With Marilyn and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. But playing the gawky goofball of the Harry Potter heroes has made things harder for Rupert Grint. Despite headlining several features throughout Harry Potter's run.including Thunderpants, Driving Lessons and Cherrybomb. Grint hasn't gained any traction as an ingendude in the States. But all is not lost, since Grint has two releases due to hit the U.S. this year. Preceding

Modern Family Season Three Blu-Ray Review And Giveaway

Modern Family has been a smash hit since the first episode, and it hasn’t slowed down at all. The third season (and fourth) are just as funny, and the show is still delivering on its characters’ best points.

The Complete Third Season Blu-Ray release is not only a great collection just for the episodes you get (and the show is a Blu-Ray must), but the bonuses are great, and that isn’t always something you can say about television releases.

As third season started rolling, I know a lot of people were talking about the show’s apparent trend toward moving away from home base. Though the episodes, I thought, were especially good, and were perhaps even instant classics, trips to Wyoming and Disneyland had some people wondering if we weren’t running out of enough solid ideas for the progression of the characters. This is a question season

Adam Green Shows How Michael Myers Drove to Haddonfield in New Short Film

As it has been for several years now, Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) and his friends have once again teamed-up and produced a short film to kick off the month of Halloween. Past films have been able to combine Green’s love of comedy and horror with nothing short of unique results; one of my favorites has to be 2009′s hilarious faux infomercial for the “Jack Chop.” This year’s treat is a short starring Joel David Moore and Kane Hodder entitled “Driving Lessons.” If you haven’t been able to figure out from the title of this article, Green shines a light on a notorious and glaring flaw in what many consider to be a horror classic. The joking is obviously all in good fun and I’ll be damned if you don’t have fun watching this as well. Joel David Moore’s nervous instructor with a bizarre childhood

Blu-ray Review: Emmy Award-Winning Season of ABC Hit ‘Modern Family’

Chicago – In the days since this year’s Emmys, I’ve been probably asked this question more than any other — “Do you think Modern Family is the best comedy on TV?” The answer is an undeniable no. But I usually add the disclaimer that this doesn’t mean it’s not a good show. It may not have been the best choice for the 2011-12 season (that would be “Louie,” “Girls,” “Parks and Recreation,” “Veep,” or “Community”) but it also wasn’t the worst. What often happens is that shows that win Emmys three years in a row become so un-hip in certain circles that the backlash exaggerates their negative qualities. There is still some very funny material on the third season release of “Modern Family” and the cast is undeniably one of the best on TV.

Rating: 3.5/5.0

It helps that Fox typically treats their hit show so well with

Rupert Grint Looks to Join 'Death of Charlie Countryman' and 'Cbgb'

Though acting turns outside of the Harry Potter franchise from Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) in films like Driving Lessons, Cherrybomb and Wild Target haven't exactly been as easily recognized as co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in The Woman in Black and My Week with Marilyn respectively, that doesn't mean the red-haired Brit is giving up on acting just yet. In fact, Variety has word that Grint has locked down two new fairly high profile projects with the Shia Labeouf led thriller The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman and the underground music scene drama Cbgb, based on the NYC club of the same name. Grint has yet to prove himself as a viable star outside of Harry Potter, but I think he has some real talent in him. He might be more suited for comedy, but it sounds like these two roles are a little more serious. In The Necessary

Now that the Harry Potter franchise is at an end, the three main actors are making some bold career choices to try to create life outside of the wizardry that has defined their lives in the public up til now. Emma Watson‘s juggling classes at Brown and roles in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Sofia Coppola‘s The Bling Ring. Now Rupert Grint‘s taking on two new projects: The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman with Shia Labeouf and Cbgb with Professor Snape-i mean, Alan Rickman. [Variety]
