Makes Good Use of the Material & The Basic Idea, 15 February 2005
Author: Snow Leopard from Ohio

This short comedy starts with a very simple idea, as do so many features of its era, but then makes good use of it to produce a rather amusing film. It is efficient in setting up the situation, and it shows a decent level of resourcefulness in stringing it out as long as possible, without becoming repetitive.

One of the things that is interesting is that right from the beginning, the audience already knows where "The Lost Child" happens to be, but the characters in the movie don't. It's a basic device now, but it was probably not nearly as commonplace in the movie's era, and it also works well. The child's mother behaves in a suitably excitable manner, and the level of frantic nonsense is built up steadily as it prepares for the finale.

Overall, it is an entertaining little feature that does a good job of capitalizing on its opportunities.
