A wonderful little flick.

I found it among a disc of SUSPENSE TV show... I don't really know what this feature did here. Anyway, it was a good surprise for me. It could remind us Howard Hawk's RED LINE 7000, for the settings and the story too. James Withmore plays here a vet car driver - for races, I mean - who has to fight every day to feed his family. And, one day, he realizes he has to race against a young guy, an ambitious one, for whom he is nearly a hero. The characters are very interesting for this kind of TV stuff. The dialogue between Withmore and the young pilot's fiancée is outstanding, when he tries to convince her that her man should choose for another job, another dream: becoming a star pilot.

I won't spoil the ending but it's a powerful little sport drama directed by the vet Frank Mac Donald.
