The X-Files season 11 given the green light by Fox

It has been announced that Fox has given the green light for an eleventh season of The X-Files after its tenth season premiered last year. This was fourteen years after the ninth season ended back in May 2002 and seven years after the film The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

Even though season ten met with a mixed reception from critics, the return of such an iconic show drew in a staggering sixteen million viewers. Fox, buoyed by the popularity, commissioned an extra four episodes with season ten taking the episode count up to ten. Clearly they are pretty confident they have another smash hit series on their hands when the show is due to air later on this year.

In a statement from David Madden, President of Fox Broadcasting Company, he stated “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. »

'The X-Files' Season 11 to Begin Production This Summer

Over a year after reviving The X-Files for a highly-awaited 10th season, Fox announced that a new, 10-episode installment of the sci-fi/drama will premiere either late 2017 or early 2018. Production is scheduled to launch this summer, Deadline reports.

The network didn't reveal any plot details but confirmed that the series' long-running stars, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, will reprise their respective roles as FBI paranormal investigators Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
