Not original, but pretty good.
8 October 2008 | by (In a Chair in my room) – See all my reviews

People like to watch violence. Always have. And they always will.

That is the only paragraph I truly need to use to describe this film. it is raw, hardcore, American Violence. Thats what the whole film is about. it's about killing your fellow man or woman, and not feeling any shame doing it. now you think to yourself, what has this world come to, with the idea of putting 10 people on an island and killing each other? great idea, WWE, but you forgot, The world already had something like that. just less violent...it's called survivor. plus, if you think the idea of giving the players weapons was original, it kinda wasn't - Rockstar's grand theft auto III has an in-game advertisement for a phony Reality show called "Liberty City Survivor" in which all the players are armed with rocket launchers and they fight to the death....yeah. real nice.

Breckel (Rick Hoffman) is a wealthy television Producer who wants to make something bigger than the NFL Superbowl, which he claims attracts the most viewers out of any event...40 million. Plus he's not afraid to break the law in order to make it happen. so, he gets an 'unoriginal' idea to take 10 death row Prisoners from 3rd world Prisons and bring them to an island in the south pacific to kill each other off for an Streaming Internet show. Unfortunately, He made a few mistakes...he hired Jack Conrad ("Stone Cold" Steve Austin) and McStarley (Vinnie Jones)

Now, WWE films aren't always the best, but compared to the marine, Condemned is way better. Condemned takes everything that kicks ass about stone cold Steve Austin, and made it 3 times better. The movie is also like wrestling. Stone cold Steve Austin, who fought for his country and took it like a tough guy, is the face. McStarley is a British soldier who got captured and held in an African Prison after Ravaging a village in Rwanda, Slaying the men and Raping the women, which makes him the heel. the story practically revolves around the 2 of them, while the other 8 members are just the meatloaf who get blown up early in the film.

For my opinion, this film is certainly not for the young fans of stone cold Steve Austin (Which there aren't many of since stone cold doesn't wrestle anymore) and like the evil director says "yes, children could log on, provided they have a credit card. but parents should be aware of what their kids are watching." for teenagers, it's probably best to have the heartless and soulless ones watch this, and not the emotional types who cry when the evil director's face girlfriend says "they aren't animals! they're human beings! and you're letting them kill each other!"

Bottom Line, Condemned is certainly worth a rental, it's a "blast" to watch at certain times, but for a more family friendly, fun stone Cold Steve Austin experience, Get Wrestlemania 23 for when stone cold shaved Mr. McMahon's head as bald as his own. that never gets old.

7/10
