Just funny
Start_Static10 February 2005
Distraction is a hilarious show. The questions are certainly not complicated, and the gameplay isn't complex, it's just people answering easy questions for a car.

The only catch is that they must answer those questions while doing some sort of task. Sometimes the task is easy like pushing a buzzer, other times the task is funny, and then some are just humiliating. The winner wins a car, and then there is a special bonus round. This part is usually the funniest, seeing the look on the contestant's face after they get a question wrong, and get part of their car destroyed is sad, but priceless.

Jimmy Carr, the host, insults the contestants and entertains the audience with his dry, British wit, and humorous observations.("Sometimes things don't turn out like you want them to, I mean I always thought that my mom would be the one to catch ME masturbating.") Hopefully it lasts, Comedy Central is notorious for canceling quiz/game shows.(Ex: Beat the Geeks, Ben Stein's Money) It's just funny to watch.

Distraction USA
jboothmillard13 August 2011
Warning: Spoilers
The original show in the UK was very good, but I had never seen the version when it went to America, so when I managed to find the episodes I lapped it up. Remaining host Jimmy Carr (who I first saw on TV in the original show) hosts the show that sticks to the original plot, four players, one lost round by round, answering simple and trivia based questions while being distracted by something, whether painful, humiliating or disgusting. The person with the most point remains, the person with the least is eliminated, and the eventual winner gets a mountain of prizes (television, bike, camcorder, etc) or a car (I don't recall an episode with cash). Some distractions are the same as in the UK, including peeing in toilets as a buzzer, sticking clothes pegs to faces, naked people joining them, paint balls fired when an question is wrong or not answered, wrestlers throwing them around, and much more. But being in America it's obvious there's going to be a little more over the top stuff, so extra distractions not featured in the original show include pie throwing in the face, glass breaking on the head, pigs nibbling off the contestant's chest, a ping pong ball launcher in the face, raw (and some boiled) eggs smashed on the forehead, catching a greased pig first to answer a question, wearing large pants with snakes in them, and much more. The original show was obviously very popular and I loved it, this remake from the United States is just as fun to watch, and it was good to see Carr breaking out in the States, a still funny and original game show. Very good!

One of the worst game shows i have ever seen
cdcshw15 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The only good thing about this is just one, it ended quickly.

I don't ever understand how could someone agreed to make one of the sh17713st shows ever.

Game shows where people can answer a few questions for good prizes is one of the most used formulas on TV, even in the times of this crap. So, probably someone tought, why not a show were the constentants are constantly bullied while we make the questions?. It sounds good, but first there is one thing, the torture games are way too old. Thanks Japan!!!.

I'm totally sure the "creator" while trying to make some money fastest possible, did the best thing any producer of TV can do. And what is that?, simply. COPYING, yes that's right, as i stated before, the shows where the players are humiliated and given the most painful experience they could ever get for a new brand TV or even a car, is no new, has existed years before "Distraction". With a terrible execution and a really, really, really boring host, this show was by far one of the worst you can find. No doubt it lasted less than a year.

I have seen foreign shows with better material than this poor imitation. First, the question are too simple like the "distractions", while the only i could watch are any really hot girl, i can totally say, the real torture is for the viewer. And the worst part it's that, you have survived one of the lamest shows ever, and now with you prize in front of you, just when you thought the real torture that is the show itself, the host warn you that your newly fresh car or that expensive TV plasma it's about to get wrecked unless you answer 5 ridiculous questions. Really, while in those times one TV like that or any other car with a price that could make you cry, and like the money IT GROWS ON TREES, they will start breaking a good piece of engineering just for entertainment?, why don's simply snatch the precious from the hands of the winner?, just that. But nooooo, they want to break it, who retard could even consider that?, looks like the "Distraction Team" it's the one.

If you want to see humiliated persons on TV to get some fancy prizes, they are a lot of better choices. Personally i'm the kind of totally offensive, racist, sadistic, extremely painful, vulgar, crude humor and this show is totally lame.

Glad it lasted less than 2 seasons (really it can barely count 2 with that few episodes), shouldn't even lasted 4 episodes.

They need to bring this back
destiny_west31 January 2023
Why they stopped this show I will never know.

Jimmy Carr takes his contestants through literal assault to win a car at the end of it. The challenges involved were hilarious, from being pierced, to sticking their hands in cacti, taking sticky notes of old naked people, I can go on.

Jimmy Carr was always in top form with his insults and mockery.

Then just when the contestant thinks they have won the car, its not over... They have to answer a series of questions or risk further damage.

Distraction was a laugh aloud, cringe fest.

A show the guys from Jack Ass would have been proud to participate in.

Excellent

Distraction is an uhm..."somewhat" original show, and at times, quite witty and intelligent. The star of the show could'nt have possibly been a better selection of the host, Jimmy Carr! And what a host he is. He is heart and soul of distraction. I only wish that he'd stop repeating the same jokes he spat down during his earlier comedy shows. For example, I don't want to hear that "he arrived early" for the billionth time! Despite that, he does bring plenty of originality to the table. The show itself is quite funny and sometimes heartbreaking when you see all the merchandise destroyed. Is the shock value really worth such a budget? I really don't know but the budget must be massive!

The funniest thing I ever saw were nudist distracting contestants
TheNewCinemapress16 November 2005
This is one of the best game shows there has ever been. Jimmy Carr hosts this amazing show. Four contestants are brought in to the studio and we get to learn silly, weird or sometimes gross things about them or their life. What is revealed to the public should embarrass them for life.

Then we get to the good part. They go through four elimination rounds where they answer trivia questions about a simple topic. The only thing is they are getting "distracted". There is always something sick or hilarious to distract them from answering the questions. These include chug-a-lugging hot sauce shots to buzz in, pressing their tongue into a turning fan, having to wrap rubber band around their heads, being zapped with electric cattle prods, or having to do their pranks with some very funny naked people.

The last round is the chance to win fabulous prizes or a brand new car. If they answer a question incorrectly, they have something done to their prize, e.g. smashed, sprayed on, burned, smashed, etc. Jimmy Carr is one of the best comedian hosts I know. Outstanding comedy entertainment!

It Okay By Me.

Jimmy Carr is pretty good with game shows I'd say, not to good at stand-up comedy though. I kind of liked this show, I just don't understand why it was on Comedy Central. It should have been on The Game Show Network. Never the less, my favorite challenges are the hot sauce challenge and the one where you get smashed over the head with stuff and the fan challenge. I also liked tiny, the big black guy. I think they should have gotten more attractive nudists. They got these old people. They shouldn't have taken this show off here in the states. Not a lot of English game shows are successful in America. They might make it big for awhile like Millionaire, but then they fizzle out.

Best Gameshow Ever!
nagem-129 March 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Jimmy Carr host the game show 'distraction' a show where he asks 4 contestants simple questions...while their being distracted (and seemingly hurt, i.e. fingers in a mousetrap, standing in a crowded phone booth with nudists) the person with the lowest amount of points at each round is eliminated. The winner has to go through one more round, their prize(s) are either a *brand*new*car!* or 5 prizes. The catch? You have to answer 5 questions, if you answer any of them wrong, the contestants that got eliminated destroy your car, OR if you have the 5 prizes, one of them blows up. Jimmy Carr also displays his good old British humor!
