Zoe Saldana Sparkles in Silver at 'Avatar' World Premiere

10 December 2009 7:43 PM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

"Star Trek" beauty Zoe Saldana has stepped out for the world premiere of her another sci-fi movie, "Avatar". On Thursday night, December 10, the actress who portrays 10-feet tall, blue skinned alien named Neytiri joined many of her co-stars in celebrating the special screening of the highly anticipated movie at Odeon Leicester Square in London.

Walking down the Na'Vi blue carpet which was rolled out to welcome the stars arriving at the premiere, Saldana stood apart from her fellow female co-stars Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez. While Weaver and Rodriguez went to the premiere in black, the 31-year-old shimmered in her silver dress.

At the premiere, the Angie Jones of "Vantage Point" talked about her amazement over the amount of detail that went into bringing her character to life. "Every avatar, Na'vi, their skin texture is the texture of the actor that did that character," she gushed as quoted by Empire Online. »

HBO Imagine

9 November 2009 6:47 AM, PST | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

We've heard it before: the web is the future of entertainment. In 2007-2008, the Writers Guild of America fought the good fight to let the world know that New Media was the way of the future. As the writers earned the animosity of viewers who were left without new shows to watch, SAG waited in the sideline for their moment to fight for the exact same thing: rights in new media. Now, HBO is proving that writer's were right to strike with a new storytelling adventure based online. HBO Imagine is a unique web experience that blows movies like "Vantage Point" out of the water. Instead of simply cutting back and forth between multiple perspectives, HBO employs a semi-cube viewing device that allows you to view a story from four different angles. The interactive cube features two films, each 2 minutes long. Once you watch them you can unlock bonus »

This Weekend at the Movies: November 6, 2009

6 November 2009 3:32 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

It's hard to figure Hollywood out sometimes. Last week we had nothing outside of the last minute addition, Wednesday release of the Michael Jackson doc This is It and then this week is packed, albeit with a lot of smaller stuff and a pair of thrillers, but any weekend where I am posting five reviews is a pretty big week for movie releases. Let's check 'em out shall we?

The Fourth Kind Is it real? No. Is it any good? It's not bad and will likely be better for people going in knowing wholeheartedly it is fake, but then again, the filmmaker's attempts to convince you it's real may grate on you even more under those circumstances. It's hard to figure which side the general public will come down on this one and user comments should prove entertaining reads.

This film is rated PG-13 for violent/disturbing images, some terror, »

Thinking Outside the Box

A week loaded with oh-so-worthy awards season contenders is offset with the comic relief of Jim Carrey's performance captured flailing, George Clooney's self-deluded staring, and the teasing promise of an affordable(!) trip to the ballet.

"The Box"

You could make the argument that if Richard Kelly could only get the whole world to come over to his house and listen to his record collection, he might not feel the need to make films at all. That said, his fall from grace following the flop of "Southland Tales" was so total that he went from the director anointed as the hipster's David Lynch to the arthouse M. Night Shyamalan overnight. With much riding on this comeback, Kelly has turned to Richard Matheson's short story "Button, Button," previously immortalized as an episode of "The Twilight Zone, »

Checkmate: An Advance Review of PBS' "Endgame" on "Masterpiece Contemporary"

23 October 2009 8:37 AM, PDT | Televisionary | See recent Televisionary news »

Apartheid is an ugly word, conjuring up images of racial segregation and hatred from a time in the not-too-distant past of South Africa. PBS' new political thriller Endgame, which airs Sunday evening as part of the public broadcaster's Masterpiece Contemporary wheel, dramatizes not the plight of the common South African man and woman under the draconian decree of apartheid but rather the machinery operating behind the scenes to bring an end to apartheid once and for all. Written by Paula Milne (Second Sight) and directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point), Endgame revolves around a series of secret talks between the Anc and the South African government brokered by Consolidated Goldfields, a multi-national company with vested financial interests in South Africa. The talks took place at an estate in England, far away from the violent rebellion in South Africa, and despite the risk in bringing together these enemies, the open lines »

Quaid Narrowly Avoids DUI Arrest

22 October 2009 8:56 AM, PDT | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Dennis Quaid was given a lucky break by Los Angeles police on Thursday morning when he was warned against driving home after cops suspected him of drinking alcohol.

The actor was leaving Philippe restaurant in West Hollywood in the early hours of Thursday with his wife Kimberly and a friend when he jumped into the driver's seat of his Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).

Quaid was about to speed away from the venue when a cop car pulled up alongside and ordered him to step out from behind the wheel, saving him from a possible arrest for driving under the influence (DUI).

In video footage of the incident posted on TMZ.com, the Vantage Point star can be seen being repeatedly told by the officer to "get out of the car".

He responded to the policeman, "What do you want me to do?" before requesting the cop's permission to return to the restaurant and call a cab. »

Review: Law Abiding Citizen

16 October 2009 5:00 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Have you ever felt slighted by the law? Felt like justice wasn’t served, or that the law was working more in their own favor than in yours? This is the underlying theme, the philosophical question at hand, which runs throughout Law Abiding Citizen. This is a movie whose title I felt was lacking, until I saw the film and it made more sense.

Law Abiding Citizen is a smart, tense thriller that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats and keeps us guessing. Not since Fracture, starring Anthony Hopkins, have I felt this engrossed by a legal cat-and-mouse thriller. The story makes it difficult to fully take one side or the other, painting the ambiguous nature of our imperfect legal system in endless shades of gray.

The movie was directed by F. Gary Gray (Friday, A Man Apart, Be Cool) and opens with a teeth-clenching down note »
