Did You Know?
This film contains the actual footage of the concert held in the Theresienstadt Ghetto by world-renowned Jewish conductor Raphael Schachter, who was ordered by the Nazis to play "Jewish music" for visiting Red Cross delegates (the Nazis believed that Jews could not comprehend or appreciate "Christian" music). Boldly defying his brutal imprisoners, Schachter had his orchestra masterfully play a Christian litany, Verdi's Requiem - a dramatic act of defiance in the face of Nazi anti-Semitism. The footage of this concert was restored and re-mastered for this movie. See more
The film carries this dedication: "To Herbert Feiler -- author, activist, benefactor, and friend; A man whose wisdom and friendship made this effort possible." See more
