Trevor, King of Crap
woookay11 June 2007
I don't know how 'they make Soprano's look like', but after witnessing this tragic shlock, Ed Wood's 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' looks like 'Blade Runner' to me. Instead of sending pathetically favorable reviews with ten stars to IMDb, his friends should be honest and tell 'auteur' Trevor King, that with a charisma of a used condom and a potato's sense of humor, without a clue about writing a screenplay and a lack of 'mise en scene', he shouldn't attempt on film-making or/and acting. To appear in a pathetic joke like this, Ray Wise and Andrew 'Wishmaster' Divoff must have been kidnapped, blackmailed for some reason and forced with a gun.

Reservoir Dogs from Hell
lvandijk-118 March 2007
AAAAARRGH...what a horrendous movie!

Everything from the plot, the music, the really, really horrible "flashbacks"..sad, sad, sad.

There is a mix-up of Neighbours, Reservoir Dogs, Madness, The Blues Brothers but all done without any clever lines, humor, real action. It is most definitely the laziest, lamest and worst executed attempt at cashing on the back of other peoples creativity i've ever seen.

It's not even good enough for rental!

And why on earth are there any positive comments written here? Producers? TrevorKing himself...some intern from the production-office?

Shame on you, nobody should go through watching this below-par vomit of a movie.

Utter crap.
med_hevede_sverd2 June 2007
This movie is probably one of the worst rip-offs of one of the best movies ever, Reservoir Dogs. The acting looks fake, the blood looks like ketchup the filming is more boring then my grandmother and the script is without any imagination.

I only know Sam wise from the actors and he does his best to make this horrendous excuse for a movie more watchable, but even he can't help this big pile of steaming manure to stop rolling down the mountain.

Oh, and another thing. On the DVD it says really cool: ''They make the Soprano's look like choir boys.'' Really, really the most pathetic line I have ever seen on a DVD.

Save your own life, just don't see it.

Why Ray you're such a better actor than this!
zlatahudba11 September 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I can't believe Ray Wise would waste his time on such a horrid film. Who would want to watch (or work on) a bad soap opera plot with guys dressed like they were rejects from Reservoir Dogs?!?!? A son trying to reconnect with his father and gets roped into a really stupid kidnapping scheme, which completely stops making sense half way through and has the worst pay-off ever … Even the worst Movie of the Week has a better plot! This film has a complete lack of originality, down to the suits they all wear! With the exception of Wise and Andrew Divoff the acting is awkward and stiff. This film isn't worth the celluloid it was shot on, truly pathetic.

Not good

Warning: Spoilers
I made better films with my PXL-2000 when I was twelve years old. He makes Tommy Wiseau look like Steven Spielberg. And the tag-line is an obvious lie... "true story"? Give me a f*ing break.

Worst Film Ever (Honestly)
earlyhigh1 September 2008
I cannot believe there are any favorable comments about this monstrosity of a film. Obviously the director must have plenty of time on his hands to add these reviews as probably no-one will hire him now! The acting, script and 'jokes' were just too embarrassing and painful to watch. There was no plot and the ending is such a poor rip-off from Reservoir Dogs. If there was a window in my room, I would have thrown myself out of it. There needs to be a public health warning on this film - as I'm furious that I was led to believe that this pile of crap was 'decent'. This is the worst 'movie' I've ever seen and I have seen a lot of movies in my time (including Bollywood!!!)

A Must See Film.......
kmln00725 January 2005
If you haven't seen it find it! The story is great and the actors make you get attached to them... I can't wait to see it again on the big screen.... This film is filled with cool camera shots and lots of laughs! The story is magnificent and contains heavy action. This movie keeps you thinking about what's going to happen next. The director really did a good job of capturing these peoples emotions on film. Once you see it I know you'll go and tell someone else about it. Some of the scenes in this movie catch you completely off guard. This movie has a lot to offer for those who get a chance to see it. In my opinion it can hang with the best of them any day!

A really good real-life crime story with lots of laughs
michelle-31215 April 2005
Crime is life. Laughter is life. Brotherhood is life. This movie has all of that and more. It looks at the pragmatic side of the crime business (what - you thought wise-guys spend all of their time sitting around eating spaghetti while polishing their machine guns?). It's thoroughly enjoyable.

The new "Rat Pack" live, plot, plunder, and endure. Don't miss it. It's real.

The action is nicely paced with real conversations, human imperfections, and a healthy dose of humor as it occurs. The violent scenes are not too gory. Violence is immediate and permanent and the film moves on - as we do in real life.

The director, cast, and crew did a terrific job at entertaining us.

Did I say it's real? real life...real violence...real comedy...real good...See it!

Tarantino Meets The Rat Pack!
rbawbo7 February 2005
What a great movie! Action, violence, humor and a feel of "cool" are the hallmarks of this great film. You find yourself hating the main characters one minute, then loving them the next! The film was described by someone who saw it as "Reservoir Dogs meet the Rat Pack"! The Director did a terrific job with giving the film a unique look and a great deal of energy. The script holds your interest and you dare not look away for a second for fear that you will miss the next shocking scene of violence....or the next great laugh! Congrats on the film Trevor King. Take it and run with it! Festival directors....get this scheduled now!

Give the guy a break!
liquidbraino14 March 2008
Keep in mind, even De Palma has made a few bad films. Take "Mission to Mars" for example (possibly the worst film EVER made), which wasn't even De Palmas first film (made in 2002 - this was his 32nd movie) and it was made AFTER such classics as Carlito's Way, Scarface and Carrie! And then there's "Phantom Of The Paradise" (an absolutely, utterly, indescribably horrible movie), but there are still people that call it a "Classic".

This is Trevor Kings first film (ever). Sure, he borrowed a little from "Resevoir Dogs", but then all that Tarantino did was rip-off De Palma (who ripped off Alfred Hitchcock) - and look where he is now. Trevor King obviously has a passion for film making, he just hasn't defined his own genre yet. With a little more experience he will refine his art and one day "Sharkskin 6" may be considered a classic (like "Phantom Of The Paradise" is now).

fun and convincingly unconvincing
nicholas_carraway9 April 2006
Let's talk about what Sharkskin 6 is not. It's not Brokeback Mountain. It's not Syriana, The Constant Gardener, or even Rent. It's not an examination of the evils of society, the enduring beauty of love, or the strength of human resolve. It will not join the fray of brooding indie films, casting dark glances at each other from across the room and vying to be reviewed as the most "poignant" and "breathtaking". In the context of these somber films, many of which were admired by many but watched by few, Sharkskin 6 is a little bit of an outcast. And thank god.

I caught it when it played at a horror film festival (it was out of place, but better than anything else at the festival) and loved it. It was not the kind of funny that comes from punchlines and crass jokes, a la The 40 Year Old Virgin, it was just funny. The cast's plan, and the cast themselves, are senseless and doomed. King provides plenty of situations that lend the opportunity to chuckle at his characters and enjoy the spirit of conspiracy. There are underlying themes of friendship and reconciliation, written in such a way that they seem real rather than overdone. Best of all, it's retro.

Give it a chance. It's fun.

LOVED IT! A twisted crime thriller with a lot of comedy
freeal517 November 2007
I thought this film was great! It breaks the formula rule you see in most films today and also combines comedy and drama. It takes place in a crazy retro world with gangsters and retro clothing. It's like Hairspray meets Goodfellas. I also liked the effects that were used. I thought Shadoe Stevens was very funny as the game-show host and action sequences were very cool.

Ray Wise was great! The cast had a lot of good characters. Well worth the price. I read online that the Director Trevor King will be doing a bigger budget film soon, I hope he keeps the cool vibe that this one has and the retro style.

Check it out!
