Kellan Lutz has met with McG about the Masters of the Universe movie

25 June 2016 10:42 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It’s been stuck in development hell for a few years now, but back in January it was announced that Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation helmer McG had signed on to direct Sony’s Masters of the Universe movie, and now it looks like we may be close to some casting.

Posting on Twitter, Twilight and The Legend of Hercules star Kellan Lutz has revealed that he’s met with McG about the movie, and you’d have to assume it was for the role of He-Man.

Hey @HeManTheMovie and all Motu fans,

Had an amazing meeting with @McGsWonderland and @ItsMaryViola talking Motu!

Its In Great Hands! ⚔

Kellan Lutz (@kellanlutz) June 24, 2016

In a reply to the tweet, some fan art was also posted showing Lutz as He-Man:

@kellanlutz @HeManTheMovie @McGsWonderland @ItsMaryViola okay people

Announce it already!!!!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/s7bTewLsfO

Kellan Lutz Up For "He-Man" Reboot?

25 June 2016 8:04 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Though talk of the "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" cinematic reboot has been going around for some time, there hasn't been much movement on the project in recent years beyond the attachment of McG ("Charlie's Angels," "Terminator Salvation") as director.

Now it seems one actor has used social media to indicate he's at least met over the film and could be in the running - "Twilight" series actor Kellan Lutz. Lutz just tweeted:

"Hey @HeManTheMovie and all Motu fans, Had an amazing meeting with @McGsWonderland and @ItsMaryViola talking Motu. Its In Great Hands!"

For those wondering Mary Viola is the president of McG's production company Wonderland Sound & Vision. A meeting is a long way from even negotiations though, and how many actors McG has met for the film is unclear.

So far there's been few rumors regarding who'll play the protector of Castle Grayskull or when the »

What Was Your Favorite Anton Yelchin Performance? — CriticWire Survey

20 June 2016 8:13 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Every week, the CriticWire Survey asks a select handful of film and TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Monday morning. (The answer to the second, “What is the best film in theaters right now?” can be found at the end of this post.)

This week’s question: In honor of the late Anton Yelchon, who was killed in a tragic accident early Sunday morning, which was your favorite of his performances?

Christopher Campbell (@thefilmcynic), Nonfics

It’s definitely not his best movie, and maybe it’s not really technically his best acting, but my favorite of Yelchin’s performances is in “Terminator Salvation.” You could tell he tried to sound like Michael Biehn in “The Terminator” in his portrayal of young Kyle Reese, and that meant a lot to me as a fan of these movies. And it shows how much he took care in his work »

Anton Yelchin (1989-2016)

20 June 2016 7:09 AM, PDT | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

This calendar year has been filled to the brim with unthinkables. The latest terribly sad happening: The talented Russian-American actor Anton Yelchin died yesterday in a freak accident at only 27 years of age. He was crushed by his own car on its steep driveway incline.

Yelchin was best known to general audiences as Chekov in the modern Star Trek franchise but to us he'll always be Byrd Huffstodt (the sensitive brainy teen in the underappreciated cable drama Huff) or awestruck poseur Ian (from the hipster vampire greatness that was Only Lovers Left Alive), and especially Jacob from the college romance drama Like Crazy (2011). Though Like Crazy was mostly heralded at the time for Felicity Jones's work as his British girlfriend, it was Yelchin that gave the movie its lovestruck foolish soul... but nuanced emotionally astute work by male actors, especially young ones, in romantic dramas are rarely given their just critical props. »

Despite the strange incident, at this moment, law enforcement suspects no foul play. The car in question was a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and while we don't know the exact year the vehicle was made, Gizmodo noted that 2014 to 2016 models were up for a recall, »

Rip Anton Yelchin: 9 Reasons We Loved His Performances

19 June 2016 1:24 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Anton Yelchin passed away at the tragically young age of 27, at a time when many actors’ careers are just gathering momentum. But Yelchin had already amassed an impressive filmography that stretched back to his childhood, with an eclectic mixture of blockbusters, TV projects, and smaller efforts. “I’m just a huge supporter of this universe of filmmaking,” he told IndieWire in 2011. “It’s just fundamental. I can’t stress that enough.” Here, the IndieWire team shares their thoughts on why Yelchin stood out.

A Rare Screen Presence

Yelchin was the rare young actor to convey a plucky disposition while something gentler and melancholic lurked beneath the surface. As the energetic teen offspring of the troubled shrink on “Huff,” Yelchin was often the sole voice of reason in a sea of anxiety-riddled adults. While they grappled with middle-age, he was tasked with calling them on the pithy nature of their problems. »
