Quotes

Leslie Vernon: This is the living room. There's Church and Zoe. They are my little sweeties. Actually, he's not. Don't put your finger anywhere near him.
Taylor Gentry: [whispers] Okay.
Leslie Vernon: But you can pet *him*. He's a sweetie. I'm so terrible with these guys. I go away for days, forget to feed 'em. Little bastards just won't die.
Taylor Gentry: Turtles are good that way, very feng shui.
Leslie Vernon: Yeah yeah, plants and turtles. Plants and turtles. I only keep pets I can eat.

A Diamond in the Rough
3 November 2012 | by (Ireland) – See all my reviews

I first came upon this movie in a list of found footage Horror movies here on IMDb and the Summary sparked my curiosity so i decided to go get it. I went in blind (didn't watch a trailer) so i wasn't sure what to expect, and i found it one of the most Original horror movies I've seen come out of America in a long time!

it's set in a world where all our favorite psycho Slasher's existed and the movie revolves around Leslie Vernon, a man who aspires to be like that of his Idol's Freddy, Jason, and Micheal Myers. and gives a Documentary Crew full access to who he is, and what his plans are.

and so begins an entertaining and often humorous journey into what it takes to be a successful Slasher.

The found footage genre has had a lot of movies lately, and what started as a fresh look at horror, has quickly become diluted by movies that don't live up to those which made the genre great, but this movie has spiced it up, no only with an original take on slasher movies, but with also peppering in humor and a sense of ease throughout most of it. something which is never really pushed or taken advantage of. i really loved this movie, and maybe rating it a 9 out of 10 seems awfully optimistic, i did so based on its total originality and the entertainment it gave me as a viewer. it ticked all the box's for me. and i encourage anybody with an open mind to check this movie out.
