Winter. The Fox and the Hare live in the forest. The first lives in the "ice hut", the second - in the "bast". The Fox' hut is more beautiful, but - that's the trouble - in the spring it melts, and the Fox decides to capture the Hare's dwelling. Using her advantage in physical strength, she achieves this without much difficulty, and the homeless Hare goes "where his eyes look." On his way he meets the Wolf, who, suddenly imbued with the plight of the Hare, decides to help him expel the invader.
