Priyadarshan though mostly remakes south films yet he directs films well especially HERA PHERI, HUNGAMA
This film too was a big hit
The film is a remake of Malyalam comedy GODFATHER but it's very a good movie
The film is actually a mixture of old fashioned 80's drama and comedy
The comedy works but the drama actually bogs the film down
The entire back story of Amrish and Laxmi gets boring
The comedy however and the romance between Akshaye and Kareena is well handled Arshad's portions are the highlight of the first half and also parts of second half
While Paresh gets the maximum footage in the second half and many portions are hilarious
The first half is hilarious especially the BOBBY portion and the entire game plan between Akshaye and Kareena is hilarious Also the truth of Paresh
The second half starts off well and the scenes till Amrish comes to know about Paresh are hilarious but post that the film gets boring and too slow and melodramatic The ending too is overdone though hilarious
Direction by Priyadarshan is good in parts Music is okay
Amongst actors Akshaye Khanna does a superb job in comic and dramatic scenes- 8/10 Arshad Warsi is the highlight of the film, in fact he steals several portions and is simply outstanding, Sad Priyan never took him again in his film however he is sidelined in parts of second half - 9/10 Kareena is hilarious in the first half though sidelined in the second half- 6/10 Paresh gets the best lines in the second half and is hilarious as ever 9/10 Amongst rest Suneil Shetty does a good job Jackie too stands out Arbaaz Khan is nothing great Laxmi as the evil Nani is very good Amrish Puri does a great job Deep Dhillon, Akhilendra Mishra are okay Manoj Joshi is hilarious though too loud
