In 2005 director Rupert Murray released Unknown White Male, a documentary about the true story of a man named Doug Bruce. He woke up on Coney Island with total amnesia and we follow him around as rediscovers himself and the world around him. I found the intriguing premise to be told in a boring, over-stylized manner. Then I heard about the next film from House of Wax and Orphan director Jaume Collet-Serra, with the same title and a similar premise. Although one features Liam Neeson kicking a lot of ass, it came to my surprise that the two films have nothing to do with each other.
Based on a novel by Didier Van Cauwelaert, they shortened the title to Unknown. Neeson stars alongside January Jones, Diane Kruger and Frank Langella. It looks like a solid little thriller prime gearing to mimic Taken’s box office. Check out the first trailer below via Yahoo. »

The loose sequel to the ensemble romantic comedy Valentine’s Day, directed by Garry Marshall. Warner Bros. is hoping this will be the start of a beautiful franchise of holiday-themed rom-coms.

Warner Bros. Pictures is planning a massive 2011, especially for us genre fans. Earlier today they announced January release dates for The Rite and Unknown White Male, now three more are coming later that year. On April 22, Catherine Hardwicke's Red Riding Hood (formerly The Girl With The Red Riding Hood) adaptation starring Amanda Seyfried arrives in theaters, with Death attacking a new group of teens in Final Destination 5 3D on August 26. The Todd Lincoln directed ghost story The Apparition haunts theaters on September 9 with Steven Soderbergh's star heavy (Matt Damon, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow) viral thriller Contagion (now in 3-D) hitting theaters on October 21. I'd expect Contagion to shift dates when Lionsgate sticks a Saw or Paramount continues Paranormal Activity near that date. »
